Cold Spring Country Club
About
Cold Spring Country Club is situated halfway between Springfield and Worcester. Opened in 2010 in an effort to bring world class golf to western Massachusetts, the club has since garnered a local following. The par-71 layout is unique in that it has six par 3s and five par 5s. There are also some par 4s in the 450-yard range. The 6,521-yard length indicated on the scorecard can be deceiving since it feels much longer when you're playing it. The golf course has plenty of variety, including dogleg lefts, doglegs rights, short holes, and long holes. Thanks to its mountaintop locale, Cold Spring C.C. offers stunning views that are as diverse as the holes. The vistas from the elevated tees and greens stretch to the Berkshires, Connecticut, and Vermont. From the golf course's highest tee box on the par-3 10th, you'll have a panoramic view of central Massachusetts.

The scenery is spectacularly panoramic at several of the Cold Spring tees and greens. This is the first hole, a par-three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A terrific par-5 of 490, the second demands good shotmaking to find this green safely. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

The long tenth, a par-4, features an offset fairway and a tough approach to an elevated green site. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A long par-5, eleven features strong ground movement from tee to green. A beautiful and challenging hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Although modern, the course maintains a natural feel. Secluded, too, on some holes, such as the sixteenth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Doesn't live up to expectations
I understand that this course has only been open for two years and still requires some filling in, but there's no excuse for dirt tee boxes, Poison ivy in the crab grass rough and an overall feeling of not being at a " championship course. " Granted they were plugging the greens on the front 9, so I had to play the back mine twice. But according too the member I played with the old superintendent got fired for not properly taking care of the course... Go figure. Hopfully the new one can change things around, because this course has truly great potential.
Very interesting with panoramic views
The course is one of the loveliest in Western Mass with unusual holes and great conditions in the fairway and on the greens. The holes are unique and challenging. The tees are in need of recovery from some type of damage, as there is little grass and they are brown. It doesn't affect the play off the tee very much however except in the barest of spots. The facilities are top rate and the staff is very pleasant and accomodating. We will definitly return.
some nice holes but browned out tee boxes
The course looks great as you drive up- the 1st t box dispels that image- a lot of other t boxes also in rough shape. The greens are very nice and put true- the fairways are also in pretty good shape. The sand traps are very nice.
Nice course could be even better!
I gave this course an "average" on value for the money with an overall rating of good.
First, the good stuff - absolutely gorgeous scenery in the wooded hills of western MA. The course layout is fun, with some holes I absolutely love and some I could do without. Some holes are very narrow, so there is a challenge off the tee. Some holes are pretty open, so you can let it fly. The condition of the greens was good - fast and true. The fairways and tee boxes were a little torn up, which I assume is the result of a lot of play this summer. Overall, well worth it to play this course, especially if you can get a reduced rate during the week. Nice clubhouse and restaurant. Good food, although the drinks are over priced. $6.50 for a draft beer? Really?
The bad stuff - They let a lot of twosomes and singles go out, and we played as a twosome. As we were making the turn at 12:30 PM, they let a threesome tee off on the back nine right in front of us. The clowns didn't let us play thru and one was on his cell phone most of the time, so play was backed up and slow. When we came in after the round, the "attendant" was on his cell phone and pretty much ignored us. Upon check in, a different set of attendants were polite and respectful.
trl
Its a beautiful course , its laid out well fairways and green where in good condition only the tee boxes were burnt out on many of the tee s .Club House is very nice and staff are very polite.
Great Course, Very Welcoming
Upon arrival to the country club, we were greeted by the head professional and other various staff. Everyone made us feel welcome, and invited. The restaurant had great deals for golfers, especially at the turn with hot dogs available for $3! The course was in very good condition and we definitely plan con playing again. Overall a great experience!
Bring your "A" game
I finally got to play Cold Spring Golf Course, when I arrived a very friendly staff member greeted me at my car and took my clubs and put them on the cart. I went inside to check in and was asked if I had played this course and I said no. The staff proceeded to tell me to prepare for a great round.
As I went to get going I was offered free bottled water upon my departure to the first tee, and the staff member said use a 3 wood off the tee. I got to the first tee and pulled out my 3 wood and hit a monster drive which I was not prepared for. I should have used a 5 wood.
The tee boxes were a bit beat up, especially the white tee boxes, they need water and more time to mature. Some parts of fairways showed heat stress and lack of water. The fairways were cut short like the PGA Tour.
The fairways on the front nine tight and keep it in play, one bad tee shot and you will pay for it.
The greens, WOW!!!! PGA speed greens, cut short and very fast!!!! the cup cuts were sharp so if your putt nears the edge its not going in. I was impressed every green was the same very fast and true. Some of the best greens I have ever played.
The back nine is more forgiving, although the 11th hole has warning signs of both sides warning of POISON IVY!!! very thoughtful. The course is hilly and challenging you will need the cart if you walk good luck. I will go back and play this course, the views on the 10th hole are spectacular.
new in the area
This course has great views, and many different shot requirements!
Fantastic course, great people, a real value for your money.
First time playing at Cold Spring CC, customer service is top shelf and the course was in excellent condition. Ken in the pro shop helped me and the guys at the bag drop were great too. They even cleaned my clubs between 9's and after my round without me even asking. What service!
