Cold Spring Country Club
About
Cold Spring Country Club is situated halfway between Springfield and Worcester. Opened in 2010 in an effort to bring world class golf to western Massachusetts, the club has since garnered a local following. The par-71 layout is unique in that it has six par 3s and five par 5s. There are also some par 4s in the 450-yard range. The 6,521-yard length indicated on the scorecard can be deceiving since it feels much longer when you're playing it. The golf course has plenty of variety, including dogleg lefts, doglegs rights, short holes, and long holes. Thanks to its mountaintop locale, Cold Spring C.C. offers stunning views that are as diverse as the holes. The vistas from the elevated tees and greens stretch to the Berkshires, Connecticut, and Vermont. From the golf course's highest tee box on the par-3 10th, you'll have a panoramic view of central Massachusetts.

The scenery is spectacularly panoramic at several of the Cold Spring tees and greens. This is the first hole, a par-three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A terrific par-5 of 490, the second demands good shotmaking to find this green safely. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

The long tenth, a par-4, features an offset fairway and a tough approach to an elevated green site. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

A long par-5, eleven features strong ground movement from tee to green. A beautiful and challenging hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Although modern, the course maintains a natural feel. Secluded, too, on some holes, such as the sixteenth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/05/2022

Favorite Place to Be
Dave at the Pro Shop is awesome. Helpful, professional and pretty funny too. All of the staff are great. The place is run so well. I've never had anything but a positive experience there.
great course
I loved the course and the entire staff and restaurant... Couldn't be better.
Great Course
First time to play this course. Interesting and challenging layout, well maintained fairways and greens roll well and very fast. Very friendly staff. It’s a great value to play this beautiful course.
Hilly course, tough walk.
This course is offered as walking, it is a challenge especially on 9 and 18, extreme elevation small greens tough to par.
Love cold spring
Best public course in the area … challenging and beautiful… if someone tells you they hate this place it’s because they can’t handle real golf and they had a bad round … losers always blame something others than themselves
Great public course in very nice shape
So, I was supposed to be playing a Stroke Play tournament at a course in eastern Massachusetts and it was canceled due to tropical storm Ophelia. I was desperate to play a round, so I was looking at the weather trying to find a area with a window of no rain to play, Bingo I find A 7am tee time at Cold Spring (weather channel says no rain until 10 or 11)
I was the first golfer on the course and was amazed at the conditions, as I played my round, every green had been cut & Rolled, every bunker had been groomed (This on a day that was going to be washed out in 3 or so hours) ended up playing 18 in 2:42 & the raindrops started right after I got in my car
This course has a great variety of holes, short, long, tight & wide open, but always in nice shape. Beautiful scenery (especially when the trees start changing) , and their Pure White Sand in the bunkers is both visually appealing, but also has a very nice consistency when playing out of.
Looking forward to my next round here!
Great Condition
Always been nice, but in probably the best condition I've ever seen it. Greens were great, new sand in the traps (happy to report I missed them all), fairways nice. Played in under 4 hours. You won't be disappointed.
Lovely place to get away
The course offers a diverse set of holes that test each aspect of your game. 6 of each, par 3 4 & 5. The course is in excellent shape, my only complaint would be the tee boxes don't get much care in the way of making them soft enough for a tee. Quite a few hard spots. But the rest is beautiful. Lovely views over water, etc. And, bonus, there's a yellow labrador owned by the clubhouse guy that runs around the course saying hi to people all day. That made my day! For under 50 bucks you can't go wrong.
Great Unique Course
Not too many courses I play have 6 par 3s and 5 par 5s. You also start off with a downhill par 3. Lots of elevation changes and dog legs. Tough walk if you go that route. Played late afternoon on a Saturday and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Have not been out to CSCC in a few years but I was glad to see the course conditions are still excellent. Very slick greens so stay below the hole if you can. Didn’t use the restaurant after the round but we could here some live music while playing 18 as the sun set. We will be back.
