Esplanade Naples Photo submitted by Ssibbald on 03/09/2014
Beautiful open course
Will play again soon. Only able to get in 9 holes due to weather.
On It's Way
Esplanade is a new golf course, so expect some details to be as yet unfinished. The staff was very helpful, the greens were recently punched & sanded, but were true enough. I will play it again.
WONDERFUL DAY OF GOLF
Have played ESPLANADE several times and everytime a great day. Staff outwardly helpful & friendly.
Course is in great condition and I played end of June in 90+ degrees. Excellent design with hole variety.
Pick your tee and it is as challenging as you want.
Would love to be a member here.
Esplanade Review
Enjoyed playing this wide open course, although the pace of play was slow compared to other courses in the Naples area.
This course was well maintained
The greens were slow and varied in speed but overall the course was in very good shape. We played in 4 hours and 15 minutes so the pace of play was good. I would definitely play the course again.
Too slow
Course in pretty good condition but there is a lot of building going on around the course if you are easily distracted. Some very long "drives" between green and tee (makes a change that way round) but generally the course is pretty straightforward - really is play what you see. The problem we had was the pace of play. We were stuck behind a couple of glacial four balls who were never ready to play their own shot, all stood around watching ech others shots and seem to spend huge amounts of time driving back and fore across the fairways. I can't be doing with 4.5 hour golf rounds I'm afraid so go if you've got the time, and the patience but I'm afraid I don't really have either.
Memorial Day
Good overall fairways generous play a tee forward to carry the fairway bunkers. Greens larger more undulated on back 9.
Future potental
Unfair greens especially on back nine.
Staff in pro shop very young and unresponsive - some training and supervision needed throughout this operation
New course -- Fantastic conditions.
Have played Esplanade 3 or 4 times in the last 2 years, always a great round. Tee box views are great, with wide fairways ahead. For a new course, it is unbelievable to be in as pristine condition as this course is. Have played many new courses in Naples, and none compare. The greens run true and fool you with the look of a break but very little there. Aim for the hole. The staff is very friendly and the pace of play is for the most part good. Usually finish in 4 1/4 hours, though some slow foursomes can hold you up a bit. Too much talking and not enough swinging. It'll be a shame for the golfing public when they fully sell the properties here and close the course for the membership only. Going to enjoy this course while I can.
Very nice golf course and value fr the money
This is a newer golf course community that I was pleasantly surprised to learn about and play for the first time. I would go back without reservation. The clubhouse facility is obviously temporary. The only negative is that the practice facility has a water range so the golf balls are not realistic.
course was good value
Course condition was excellent but no hole had a "wow" factor
Greens were VERY slow
Nice enough course but the speed of the greens was VERY slow. Couldn't get a putt to the hole all day. Back nine is very spread out with long distances between holes.
A new Gem in Naples!
Played the course as a foursome in just over 4 hours.
The course is very fair to the amateur golfer. Greens,
fairways and areas around the greens all were in excellent shape. Greens are semi-fast and putting lines are true. Enjoyable day on the links!
Really nice QUALITY course
Grreat course.
Great staff, both outside and inside the club house.
Esplande will be Grande
It's tough to review a course that's part of an unfinished development. First off, the course conditions were very good and well manicured. If you want to focus solely on that, you'll be fine every day of the week at Esplande. There is some construction going on, especially on the back nine. It didn't bother us, but might be unwelcome for others. If you can handle it, however, it's definitely a course worth playing. There are no mature trees to block wind but that will come in time. It's a great layout and offers a challenge to all levels. In the future, Esplande will be mucho Grande!
New course and fun to play!
We played this course in a little over 4 hours. It opened March 2014 but it is great course to play. A lot of construction going on around the course but beautiful views for the home owners.
we had much fun
The distance between the holes is Long.
But the course is nice and in good condition.
Course is not to difficult.
On the back 9 are no restrooms
Great quality for a reasonable price
I've played this course multiple times and I think it's a great value. As an aging 12 handicapper, I think the course is fair and doesn't require high risk and reward in order to score well. it's great for the everyday golfer that doesn't want the course to beat him up.
A golf course worth the drive out of Marco
This is a new gem of a course in pristine condition, superbly manicured course and excellent greens - and a really good test. Better than a lot of nearby courses and straight forward to find, it takes 40 minutes from Marco Island but is really worth the trip.
All holes feature water / rolling greens, however the open fairways give it a little forgiveness even off the Gold tees. It is a classic risk and reward course, with emphasis on reward. A good find and we'll be back in the future to see how the rest of the resort infrastructure develops too.
A golfing highlight - and staff welcome was very warm for my son and me indeed. They appreciate your custom.
First time to the course
We played this course back to back days. Day one was a nice good pace, day two was awful. 5 1/4 hr round. The ranger was trying to move it along but the guys that were holding everybody were out for a joy ride. No fault of the staff. They tried to move them and they didn't want any part of it.
Course, was a nice layout. Had to carry some water here and there. Fairways were in good shape. Greens, It was that time of the year. Land the ball in the front and it rolls to the back. Very hard to stop the ball on the green due to time of the year. It was nice to get out for the first time of the year.
We will be back next spring.
