Esplanade Naples Photo submitted by Ssibbald on 03/09/2014
My new FAVORITE!
Just returned to the Northeast last night with a smile on my face after playing Esplanade for first time. My new favorite Naples course! I played Panther Run day before, which is another good course but Esplanade just has a different feel to it. It is a course that makes you think both off the tee and on your approach shots and the greens are some of the most challenging I have played which hurt my score. They are definitely new and don't hold many shots, so you have to know where to hit your approach shots, can't wait to go back with better knowledge of how to play it. There is a ton of construction going on, but I went there to play the course, not look at people's houses, like other courses.
I play other courses that charge $90+ and not worth the $, but Esplanade is worth the extra $. I am going to be disappointed when this course goes private in the next 3 years.
The course has great features
Great course for Pro's!
Really good shape with great greens and
Fairways
Enjoyed the course
Course is playable for bogey golfers from the silver tees.
Maturing nicely....
Course has grown in nicely since last year, back nine and rough particularly. Greens roll very well. Unfortunately prices are nowhere near the great values of last year, and the back nine winds through a lunar landscape of early development... lots of heavy equipment, noise and dust.
very nice course
The course is very well maintained. Lush fairways and rough. Large greens .
For a new course, great
Course was in great shape considering it gets 200 rounds a day. The developing is being built around the course as we played. Big open fairways. Fair, fast greens. Planting and trees starting to come in but this is not a mature course by any means. The biggest drawback is that the pace of play is average to slow and there are many traverses from some of the holes to others. Scenery was blah as a lot of homes were in various states of construction. Don't come here for scenery but for decent golf at a decent price (for Naples at least), this place is a keeper!
Still under construction
This will be a lovely course once the surroundings are finished. It is a construction zone. The tee boxes and fairways are quite nice but the greens are like concrete. There is only one bathroom on the entire course and one for women and one for men in the makeshift clubhouse. The staff was great in explaining all this to us but would not have played here had we known the whole resort was still under construction.
Brand new course, awesome layout on HUGE property
Very generous fairways, no real gimmicky holes. Plenty of room for miss hits. Greens are in excellent shape. One of my favorite places to play!
Gréât course for the money
Greens challenging
Course in excellent condition
A course to recommended to a friend
Hidden gem
This course is fun to play. Excellent condition, staff very friendly, requires just the right amount of thinking. Unfortunately, it will go private in a couple years so play it now.
Good selection of tee boxes, hi handi cap to scratch.
Although not quite open for a year, the course is fair, no funny holes and is in excellent condition. Great staff. I've played four times this month, good value.
Great Course, Poorly managed
I am from Michigan and this course looked great so I decided to play it. I was running late for my tee time but I had the decency of calling and telling the pro shop. When I showed up I was told I was on the tee. We got paired up with another group, not a big deal. The ranger found us very quickly and said playing 3 holes in 30 minutes was unacceptable...what a joke. If that was the pace of play then it would be 3 hours flat. I had to play speed golf my entire round because there wasn't enough space between groups. Not sure if I took a practice swing the entire round because I couldn't. At least the bag guy was cool. Overall I am pretty disappointed, I can't believe I spent $100 to play there and couldn't even enjoy my round, incredible. You guys should probably do cross over tee times or make them 15 minute gaps. The only way I would ever play there again is if I get a free round and I was the first tee time off as a single so I don't get chewed out my entire round because the old men behind us couldn't wait like they woukd have to at any other golf course.
Great course, housing is under construction
Very well laid out and immaculately maintained course. Greens are large and undulating. Landscaping is superb. If you avoid the fairway bunkers, you will have a decent chance at par or better. No facilities on the back nine. Lots of earth moving and construction going on. Nevertheless, a great value. Yardage markers on sprinkler heads are sparse and GPS doesn't reach this course (Golf Buddy couldn't locate a signal) which slowed play a lot. Could use 100 and 150 yard stakes near the fairways which is an easy and inexpensive fix. Keep track of where you are to keep play moving along. Enjoy!
Needs some aging
It was vey windy when played so lots of sand was blowing around. The greens are slow. Not on GPS system and hard to locate sprinkler heads. Distance between holes and trying to find your way around the course. No facalities on back 9. Need to play again on a not so windy day. Wind was blowing at 30 knots.
Fair layout
Tee shots to open fairways. Greens undulating. Construction continues at nearby homesites, not a big issue. Course only open for about a year. I'll play it again.
Porto
Very very nice course.....looking forward to playing it again and again. Would like 150 yard poles in fairway. Spent a lot of time looking for sprinkler heads and GPS units don't work there.
A Terrific Track
Outstanding conditions and a great course. Excellent use of water and bunkers to challenge your game. We played the gold tees and this was challenging to me , but you could play the blacks if you think your game can stand it! I would definitely play this one again anytime. I really loved the par 5s and the par 3s will challenge anyone from the golds!
The first and only time I played this course.....
The course was so crowded that 20 people waited for carts when I arrived. It took us 2 1/2 h for the first 8 holes , then the ranger arrived - the first time this day!- and told us that we could not continue to holes No.10 to 18 . Insteed he sent us back to tee number 1 to play the first nine holes again (boring!!). He told us nobody will be there and we are able to finish the round without waiting ....Incorrect Information : after 2 holes we backed up again and waited , waited ...
Great course
Great course and very fair. Good shots rewarded, not rolling into water or hazards. The fairways held
