Pretty Easy Course, Decent Layout, Moron Ranger
Holes are generally wide and in good condition. Greens were aerated so can't comment on them much but I knew they'd be aerated before playing.
I was having a good day until their idiot of a ranger started an argument with me after hole 14 that we were on a 5 hour pace. I told him to do the math from my tee time because my foursome was on 4 hour pace. He insisted we weren't. He repeated 3 times that we had to pick it up because we were playing a 5 hour round. At the time of the argument we were through 14 holes in 3 hours. We were done with the round in just under 4 hours. Pretty good for first time playing the course with a couple guys who rarely play golf.
So the ranger ruined the rest of our back 9 as the inexperienced golfers started feeling rushed. Just takes one moron to ruin your day.
TLDR: decent course, pretty easy for skilled golfers. But one idiot can ruin your day.
Great Day
Course in great condition and would play again in a heart beat!
dbhill
The course was in great condition. The greens were excellent. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
It doesn't get much better for the money.
Like the title says.
Not gimmicky, just a fair test of golf in excellent shape.
Great Course
I had a very enjoyable round today. It’s a busy weekend, so the slow pace of play was understandable. The greens were is great shape. Thanks for the experience!
One of The Best Places to play in Polk County
I have never been let down at Champions Gate ! The course seems to always be in good shape. Complementary range balls are provided and the staff is super friendly! The food is good too. That is always a plus!
YOU NEED A STARTER & re-training staff
Get their course in excellent shape hit a few balls do a little putting. NO STARTER. Move over to my tee time I at the first hole. I have a foursome I’m there as a single. Waiting waiting One of the other singles came up a high school girl with her mom. We meet and decide to play together. She is very good for 16. We make the turn to 10 and some guy wants to join us that WORKS there. Because he Said he wanted to play with someone. I say NO then he chases us to the Teebox. He persist I say NO. This is where you need a STARTER!!! He asked the third time we finally give in and let him play. If anything you should know never to ask when Ladies are in the group & especially not after you’ve already played 9 holes. He completely threw my Game off. I have worked on PGA tour golf courses for over 12 years and know exactly what he was doing. NO MEANS NO!!! I don’t want to get the man fired because I think it’s more the golf course fault. A STARTER IS THE LAW ON A GOLF COURSE. STAFF PLAYING FREE NEED TO STAY AWAY FROM PAYING GUESTS
One of the best Central Florida courses.
Course was in great shape. Greens rolled well. Play was a little slow. Range balls were free which is a plus.
Greens are gorgeous
My friend got us a tee time and I hadn’t played at Champions Gate. So yesterday was my first time playing and I hope to play there a lot more. Greens were blemish free, on the firm side, and beautiful. Greens, fairways, all good. We played the international course I was impressed to the point where I felt obligated to write this review. For real the conditions of this central FL course impressed me:). Love seeing a thriving course and one maintained so well
Nice course, good greens, but gps is needed for first time player
A lot to be desired
It's the story of 2 nines in terms of layout. The front nine is a boring trip through the development with not much to see except how close the houses are to each other. The holes on the back nine are much, much nicer. There was such a difference that it almost felt like 2 different architects designed the course. There are no trees on the entire course and for a Florida course it's amazing that there are so few holes where water comes into play. The pace of play was incredibly slow (midweek). In fact, on one par 3 (the 5th hole), there were 4 foursomes on the hole at the same time, and not a ranger in sight the entire day.. It was a 5 hour round which is inexcusable. It feels like half of the time on the course is spent driving from one hole to the next. That must be why there are so many ads on the GPS -- after each hole you have to hit the GPS screen to get rid of the ad. Between the lengthy drives through each neighborhood, the GPS ads, the slow play, and the lack of originality of the course design, it felt more like a municipal course than a country club. There are a lot of better choices for your money in the Orlando area, and especially within Champions Gate itself.
Pretty sure you are reviewing the wrong course. There is no GPS on the carts a Champions Gate CC. Also hole 5 is a par 4.
If your cart had a gps screen on it you did NOT play Championsgate CC. There is no gps on the carts. You most likely played Championsgate Golf Club, affiliated with the Omni Resort.
Windy golf
Excellent golf course,, greens among the best in the area fairways and tee boxes also very good if you want a round of golf with conditions the way they should be then play here you won’t be sorry
Excellent course - very slow play
This course is always in fantastic condition! Unfortunately the pace of play was terrible from the very first tee.. tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all in great shape.
You sound very needy. This course is top notch and staff is always friendly . A 2 some should always welcome a 3rd or 4th after all you are a guest. I have no affiliation with this awesome course.
