My playing partner. 80 years old and still nailing his drives! Photo submitted by JettSpot on 07/11/2017
Didn’t meet expectations
If you are a low handicap avid golfer used to great greens, good customer service and a great golf experience this is not the place to play. Arrival to resort - you have to go through a security checkpoint as an outside visitor to the private resort and are given a wrist bNd identifying you as an outside visitor. Cab drops you off at a greeting centre Nobody talks to you and you wonder where you are. we finally asked and where told we’d have to wait for a shuttle to take is to pro shop. We arrived 1.5 hours prior to our tee time and waited over 30 minutes for a shuttle. Shuttle takes about 15 min to get to pro shop. Very poor communication from the staff at the greeting centre with regards to the shuttle. We arrive at pro shop and nobody says hello or directs us to check in. Again we stand around and wait.
Cart and Play - the carts are old and dirty. They don’t provide water but do fill up cooler with ice. You have to take a caddy - 800 pesos for 2 players. We had a good caddy. No time to warm up because checkin took so long. Drive to first tee is another 15 minutes. Pace of play was slow we were a 2 some and we waited on every hole. The greens were shaggy and almost felt like they had been punched. They were very slow. Course is basic nothing spectacular.
At end of round you travel 15 minutes to return to pro shop. Again no communication from staff. We had to ask about shuttle to take us back to where we could catch a cab
From the marina in Puerto Vallarta to the courses costs between 180-200 pesos.
They clearly don’t understand the concept of good customer service. Perhaps that’s because we weren’t members of the Vidante Resort. This experience gets a 2.5 and we won’t be back.
Bucket List
This was my first time playing an international resort course. It has been a bucket list goal but I have always been intimidated by paying high green fees to play an unfamiliar course with rented clubs. This experience not only checked off my bucket list goal, it left me wanting to do it again on my next vacation. I found a great deal on GolfNow, the course was beautiful, the clubs were high quality, and my caddy helped me navigate all the unfamiliar aspects of the round. I highly recommend this course and the experience it offers.
Spectacular from Tips
Layout is forgiving off tee and greens roll true making for excellent resort golf! Great caddie.
A Favorite Course
We love playing both of the Vidanta courses. They present reasonable challenges (lots of water) without being overpowering. A caddie is required and golfers should be aware of this.
Vidanta Norman course
Nice course, allow plenty of time to get there before your tee time. There is a ton of money in cart paths! Fernando was an excellent caddy. No major course elevations but lots of water. Very playable at all levels.
Interesting course
Course was in great condition. But you need a caddy (adds another $70 + tip) and a cart. Pretty long distance between the two parts on different sides of the river. Some pretty challenging holes with many deep bunkers around the greens. Quite undulated greens
Quality course!
Throughly enjoy the track. My only complaint would be that they need to have the ability to convert dollars to pesos. It would be much easier to tip and pay the caddie and course staff!!
Bang for Your Buck
Snagged a hot deal on GolfNow, and played this course for the first time.
Conditions were excellent, and so was my caddie Miguel. He talked me through a struggle on the front, and encouraged me through a solid back nine.
Entire staff is helpful and friendly. I’ll be back.
First impression
Ok the experience from the start was fantastic. You will want to be early as you travel great distance to get around after you get here, but the Norman course is Amazing. Fat superior to the Naya course in my opinion. From The first tee to the finish you will love the views and the play of the course. This is a par 73 so play from what ever tee you are comfortable with, but take pictures from the tips. Our caddie while young and a bit inexperience “Alfaro” was a pleasure to have around. You will understand why a caddie is mandatory as you would certainly be lost in the jungle without one. Pace of play in the afternoon was well under 3 hours.
I likely will not play the Naya course again but this Norman will be on the List next year for sure.
A bit pricey but I didn’t mind as it seemed worth it.
Suggest you try it.
Mandatory caddy fee
Reserved on website and after payment was made was then told of a mandatory caddy fee in addition to initial payment. Would not have made reservation if aware of mandatory caddy fee prior to payment
Golf heaven
We are lucky enough to play this fabulous course several times in the winter! We love the course and Also the Nicholas so get to enjoy that too! Can’t wait to play this January and February!
VALLARTA 2019
Wouuuu course!!
The fairways are in great condition, greens a bit hard staff very friendly , caddy spoils you to death !!
Great caddie
Golf in the area seems very expensive, even compared with other US resort golf. However like most Norman course good design with room off the tee and a bit more interesting green complexes. Caddie great, condition great. Just the value issue. We played off peak 2pm saw almost no one else and played three and a half hour. For this worth the coin.
