Best this course has played in years
Long course from the blue tees, fairways and greens and especially the bunkers are in great shape. Finally the worst sections of cart paths have been replaced. Overall, solid improvement.
No “saints” at St. Marlo
Although this course is a short drive from my home, I rarely play here because I generally find the staff treat late afternoon singles like trespassers rather than paying customers. However, I recently found an evening tee time on GolfNow that worked with my schedule so I decided to give it another go. Things have not changed. My greeting in the pro shop after informing the gentleman that I was checking in for my 6:20 PM time was “How did you get that time?” When I informed him it was on GolfNow, he bristled and completed the check-in but without anything approaching a welcoming comment. Keeping with this theme, while driving my cart down the cart path on the second hole, I was approached by a starter/ranger who barked, “you know it’s cart path only, right?” Thankfully that was my last staff interaction and I completed my remaining 7 1/2 holes without any other pleasantries from the staff. The course is ok. On many holes, you feel like you’re hitting in the back yards of the residents and the course always seems wet regardless of the weather. In any event, I’ll probably have a lapse in memory months from now and play here again, but hopefully I’ll remember this outing and look elsewhere.
Faded Jewel
This is the first time that I played St. Marlo in probably a decade and I (and the two other guys that I was playing with) wasn’t impressed. I consider costs in my ratings and the course conditions were similar to a $40 course. The greens were showing a lot of wear, the fairways were bumpy, sand traps were very firm with fuzz coming out in some places, and the golf cart paths were in really rough shape. You have to pay $8 for a small bucket of balls after you have already paid a chunk of change for the round. Getting into St. Marlo was also an arduous process. Cars were stacked into the road for 10 minutes while the security guard at the front requires an ID for every car rather than simply checking a tee sheet. The staff was friendly and helpful. That said, we won’t return. The sad part about this is that this course was once beautiful and well maintained. It was a true gem in the area. Now it is in about the same shape as other Gwinnett municipal courses.

Always fun. Very good conditions for the area and price point.
Always a good time
St marlo is a nice course that’s greening up and in good condition. With a couple weeks it will be in peak shape. They are putting money into the course and have improved the bunkers and cart paths! They have replaced a significant part of the cart paths and look to be doing more, a big thank you.
I will certainly be back as the layout is always challenging and a fun course to play. Staff was super friendly and I look forward to another round.
Bit too challenging for my game, many tee shots you have to be perfect to get to very limited landing areas with hilly terrain. Can end up in trouble off tee easily.
Enjoyed the Par 3’s.
Greens were in excellent shape, fairways & around greens cut too low for my liking. Tee boxes needed some work, but you could work around that issue.
Awesome Public Course
First time playing in GA. Great layout and playing conditions. Probably the best sand I’ve played on, although I did a good job staying out of the bunkers.
No Walking at St Marlo
Will not return because St Marlo does NOT allow non-members to walk any day at any time.
Golf is best played walking and fortunately there are MANY other great options in north Atlanta for nice courses to walk!

Some Greens are aerated, fairways are 90 degree only. Enjoyed the layout and great scenery!
Great course
The course provides lots of challenges for any level of golfer. I greatly enjoyed the challenge that each shot provided.
Great course!
St. Marlo is a beautiful course. Great lay out and greens. Was cart path only and the course was in great shape after a monsoon the day before. Pace of play could have been better. Would play here again in a heartbeat.
