Madera Municipal Golf Course

I have been playing Madera Muni since it opened but the Course is in as Good of shape as I've ever seen it!

Course and greens in great shape. Keep it straight and putt well you can go low. Trees and traps present challenge to right or left on every hole. Greens are quick but fair. Give it a visit!!!

My buddy and I play here 3-4 times per month. It’s one of closest courses to home, great green fees and friendly staff.

I definitely recommend Madera Muni to any golfers:)

We have played here 5 times in the last 2 months. The most reasonably priced course in the area and it is a good course for the average golfer.

Best way to describe Madera is its an average muni course. Greens were in decent shape other than being full of un-repaired pitch marks. Fairways had decent coverage with only a few thin spots here and there. Sand traps are horrible. Hardpan with only a thin layer of sand.

Cart had a one piece solid plexiglass windshield that was hard to see through from being heavily scratched. Would have been nice to be able to flip down the windscreen to let some air in.

Course is easily walkable being completely flat and all but one transfer being short.

I want to start by saying I love playing this course. Has it challenges and is forgiving. But with this last play I was disappointed with how over watered the course was. Yes I get that it’s been over 100 degrees for about a week but this was way oversaturated. Lose so much distance off the tee went fairways are like sponges.

The greens on this outing were the worst I’ve seen here. I have applauded on these greens not more than a month ago and now they went from day to night. I could tell they were not mowed or rolled today since the certain weed that is mixed in was like putting through small obstacles. Unfair when you have a 10’ birdie and the ball is moving like a snake.....come Sierra Golf Management you can and have done better in the past.

Bunkers are hard as concrete and they really need to do something about the mosquito infestation. It is a serious health issue.

Course Condition: today it was good but not great. The sprinklers were on the whole round (teed off at 10:0am). I had to hit a couple shots from the middle of the fairway from muddy grass. Teed off from one tee box through a geyser sprinkler that was on 10 feet in front of me. A little disappointed with the conditions today.

Pace of Play: Wide open holes #1-6. Caught up to a couple groups near the end of first nine. Wide open on the first two holes of back nine but then caught up to groups again. Slow Monday.

Cost: Normally very good price on GolfNow. I wanted to use a gift certificate today so the full price was higher than expected.

I have always liked playing Madera. Very nice greens.
