Shadow Mountain Golf Course

I usually like this course. We had an 8:50 tee time. All during the round there was extensive work by the maintenance staff. Using a loud leaf blower on 6 of the 18 holes we played. Mower going down the center of fairways etc. So much so it made the round frustrating and nearly unplayable. Should have asked for a refund.

The weather was outstanding, and the course was in excellent shape! The staff were really friendly, from the gal in the pro shop to the starter.

The only issue was there was no food, and the staff didn’t seem to really know if the kitchen was open or not…

I am hesitant to review this course as it is a hidden gem I have found in the desert and want to be able to easily secure tee times in the future! (Yes, blatantly selfish)

This is the best value in the area, by far. Starting off, the staff is very friendly. Second, the green fees are more than reasonable. Third, the course is in really good shape and a very good layout.

I have played this course several times and will continue to do so when we visit the area.

Weather was beautiful for the desert. Late morning tee time ensured few players on the course, which provided excellent pace of play. The course was in great condition. Only minor issue was several tee boxes being displaced temporarily, but this had no adverse impact at all. Greens were in excellent condition. Shot my best game ever!

Enjoyed the open style course and fun to play. The course is under repair at this time but price was fair.

The greens were thicker and taller than fairways. They were doing the tea boxes on the part three which is great. Hopefully they redo the tea boxes on the rest of the course was very disappointed in the condition when I mentioned it to one of the staff their answer it’s that time of year I mentioned to him nowhere in the valley is as bad as this right now even Indian Palms is better, which was hard for me to say

Just played the front 9 of Shadow Mountain—I really like the course! First, it was so much fun to be on such an historical course! Basic, but nice facilities, with water and ice available at several places on the front 9. No range but there are several practices bays, which I now like more! There were only a handful of groups on the course this time of year (very hot here in Palm Springs) so the pace of play was fast, but relaxed. There are a large number of tee boxes being repaired right now, but the fairways and greens are in fantastic shape! Will be back soon!!

Palm Dessert is too hot during summer.. It was over 90 at 10am.

Fairways were a bit spotty but just move it over to a patch of grass. Lots of mature tree around tee boxes to park in the shade on those 100+ days.

The electricity had gone out. No water or ice in July. Course is in rough shape. The layout is confusing, 2 of the groups in front kept getting lost.

As I played this course I noticed how tight the entries to the greens were. Most of the holes were protected by sand bunkers all around. Well, I found out why...

This course was designed by Gene Sarazen. He is attributed to also designing the sand wedge. We had a great day and we would play this course again.
