Hanks Woodlake Ranch Golf

This was at one time a fun/inexpensive place to golf. The design is very unique/quirky. It is cut out of old nut orchards and routed along parts of the river in clearly homemade fashion. The conditioning was always subpar but playable. Now it is horrendous.

Pace - 5, it's always fast when you are the sole person on the course. There was a dude on the range when I finished. We were the only two cars in the lot.

Course conditions - 1, the greens had green grass, but were like putting on shag carpet with a variety of obstacles. They were the highlight as everything else was totally shot.

Staff - 5, no one was there and the door was locked when I arrived. I finally found somebody. He was nice and asked if I wanted a cart. I said no and he said then just head on out. Can't be nicer than that.

Value - 1, I played for free. Any charge would be poor value.

Food - 1, I remember there being a cold case and some trail mix, not sure what was inside now.

Facilities - 1, 30+ year old trailer and a porta-potty.

Overall - 1, sad that this one of a kind course has come to a financial (I'm guessing) end or near end at this point.

Maybe the owner can trade labor for golf and get things back to at least being playable for the locals and juniors.

Do not play here. Course is in horrendous shape. The bunkers are basically dirt patches where grass won't grow and the greens are the same length (if not longer) than the fairway. Oddly designed course with trees in the middle of greens on some holes.
