Plum Creek Golf & Country Club

About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

Good Run
Rain delayed us but we stayed on the coarse and let it pass and made up a few holes while everyone was waiting it out at the clubhouse or other areas.
When people did come back out, they lined up on the holes they left on. Then the completely over-zelous marshal came out and told us we were behind (which we definitely were not) and we should split up even though there was a new group that jumped in front of us that was on the green. He was beining a huge Karen for NO reason and followed us for 3 holes. The Marshall is a complete and useless boar pig. I shot a 38 on the front and dropped a 45 on the back because of his un-needed pressure and his stalking. I may never come back because of his small "inset word" energy.
If this is how they act, go somewhere else for $120.00.
Oh PS, even with a 20 minute rain delay, we still finished our round in 4 hours and 20 minute, ON A WEEKEND. #firethemarshall
Excellent Variety
I really enjoyed playing a round at Plum Creek recently. For my money this is the best public access course in the area and definitely worth the drive from Denver or elsewhere.
There are not may courses that offer the variety of holes that Pete Dye has laid out on this interesting piece of property. Lots of elevation changes, short and long par 4s and plenty of risk/reward shots throughout the track. This course is definitely worthy of hosting the pros...and it has!
Add in some great views of the front range and you have a great golf experience.
The back 9 definitely plays tougher than the front. There are quite a few more tricky tee shots into what feel like narrow landing areas, especially with the water on 16 and 18.
The whole course is full of dynamic features and signature Dye touches. Plenty of interesting mounding throughout, and you can't miss the railroad ties along the water on the closing three hole stretch. Toss in some fairly small greens with tricky mountain slopes and you have a course that will test every aspect of your game.
Everything looks great out there. The course is tough, but plenty fair and I didn't find any of the holes gimmicky or too similar to any of the others on the course.
Can't wait for my next opportunity to return to Plum Creek!
Plum Creek is completely back and playing great these days
I have been playing here for years and endured the early 2010s when it was close to going under and the conditions were rough but, we had $25 twilights at that time so not too bad. It has new management, a new clubhouse, conditions are great and the late day deals are fantastic. Full rack on the weekend for $125+ might still be a stretch for my cheap tastes though
Great course Slow play
This was our first time golfing this course. We went off at 4:27 and was called in due to darkness at 8:30 from the 15th hole. On the back 9 we were 2 deep on each hole - I do not understand how this would happen as our front 9 did not have this. Lack of course management possibly later in the eventing?
Entertaining course - a challenging layout
Enjoyed the round. We had a 30 minute rain delay, but the course played very well after the rain. The only negative was the pace of play. Five and a half, plus thirty minute delay made for a six hour round. The greens were terrific and the round was very thick. Keep it in the beautiful fairways.
Two rude golfers
Only disappointing thing. We had a twosome behind us that could hit very well. They however did not know golf etiquette as they hit into us a couple of times when we could go no where. We confronted them when we were on the same tee and politely told them to be more aware. The young gentleman smiled and sarcastically said “thanks for the motivation. Oh well, his downfall not ours.
where is the real marshall?
We were waiting at least 10 minutes on Every hole.
I seen marshal twice.
He explained that he does not want to put too much pressure on group ahead of us because
"they will be nervous and make mistakes, and it is going to slow them even more".
What a funny guy! But, we did not laugh..
but, if you read all the reviews, most of it about slow play. Maybe the management don't care?
5h30 min for 18 holes with limited service
The slowest course I’ve seen in a long time. The Marshall kept driving around not doing a thing about pace of play. The wait between shots was unbearable! Plus, we only saw the drink cart once 👎 NOT worth $145.00
Fantastic course and great shape now
This has always been a good course, with new management it is great again and play it!
Review
The course is way over priced for what you get. They are very overpriced then they charge you for practice balls. $4 for a small bottle of water. It can easily be 5 hours to play. The conditions are average. The course is a good challenge and in much better condition then what it was several years ago however for the slow play and high green fees and expensive drinks it’s not worth it.
