Plum Creek Golf & Country Club

About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

HORRIBLE
Decided to play this for the 1st time. As soon as you drive in you can tell how run down it is. They do not take care of anything. Everything is in poor condition, parking lot, driving range, golf carts, course.....everything. The staff was less than friendly. There's no club house, it's a temp trailer that has been there for many years. The course wasnt in good condition either. On one tee box, it was hard pan, you couldnt even stick a golf tee in the ground. We were laughing about that. Good thing i was with friends having fun, because everything else about that day was not. GO someplace else.
Disappointed
Decided to play Plum Creek for the first time this year with a Sunday afternoon tee time. They win the prize for my first 5+ hour round of the year.
Every hole the group ahead of us was still on the tee box when we arrived, it maxed out on #4 when there was a group on the green, one in the fairway and three groups on the tee box. Called the club house, marshal came out and play was better for two holes. Then went right back to the slow play, and never saw the marshal again.
It did not help the group ahead of us was playing the tips, they probably needed to be on the white tees. One member two groups ahead of us was so drunk he crashed his cart into a shrub patch and couldn't get it out, he couldn't even sit in the cart upright, but was never asked to leave the property.
Course conditions could have been better for July, was not impressed. Probably fixed 5 pitch marks per green. Back side recently had some trenches dug, but they are all filled back in and just need grass to grow on it.
Started raining on #7, wish it had continued so it would have given me motivation to quit at the turn. I lost interest by hole #12.
Beverage cart was out, and prices reasonable.
I won't be back to Plum Creek this year, or probably ever. If I'm going to play golf in Castle Rock, I'm going to Red Hawk Ridge, in much better shape and better managed.
Nice layout with fun holes. Course in poor condition
Definitely a Pete Dye course. Lots of railroad ties. Lots of humps and bumps. Clubhouse is closed for remodel. Golf shop and food out of a double wide trailer. Layout was fun but the course needs signage. No hole signs with hole number, yardages. Needs signs on cart path telling you where to go. Some bunkers were being repaired so had no sand with French drains exposed. Green speed was worse than St. Andrews is Scotland. So slow looked like they had hadn’t been mowed in days. Greens were hard and were not receptive. A real shame from what a former TPC course should look like and play like. I believe new owners have recently bought it out. Let’s hope they improve everything on the course over the next few years. This course really could be one of the best in the area.
Was not impressed
The course was not well maintained. The club house is just trash, as you can tell by other reviews. The staff was very unhelpful and did not see a bev cart come by once. Not worth the amount we paid. There are better courses around.
Nice course, facilities are in poor shape
Nice course, in ok shape but the facilities are really run down. Trash cans overflowing, concrete cracked and broken, no baskets by the range ball machine. Range balls very old, driving range poor condition. The course is nice however but not worth the 79 dollars. Won't be back but hopefully someone will recue this nice course.
This course had no restrooms open on the course.
This course had no bathrooms open on the course and the bathrooms inside the club house were being worked on. After nine holes we asked that they open the restrooms on back but they didn't. In the cold wind we needed the restrooms and were very upset that they felt that convenience was not a necessity. We asked for a discount based on their problems. The manager said to give us our money back. They said they were going to do that but they did not give us any discount for the terrible condition.
it's all about the golf
Facilities are in need of some tlc. The menu was limited. The golf course is in great shape. Good greens and fairways. It appears this place is continuing to struggle but the course has the goods. They switched the 9's a couple of years ago. 6,7,8 and 9 are the jewels of the course. Pete Dye at it best flanking water railroad ties and tough. Played with two Air Force pilots and my son. If these guys are protecting us we are in good hands.
Fun and difficult course
I enjoyed my round very much, some holes are very straight forward and easier, some are quite a bit more difficult. Water on several holes and great views. It's a very nice course
All in all, a good experience
All in all a very good experience. Have played this course when their conditions have been excellent to very poor. Never know what to expect. Greens were in excellent condition, however, typical public course, no one cares to repair their ball marks. Fairways grass conditions were below average, fairly thin.
My biggest disappointment since I played last, they changed the course layout switching the front and back around. Plum uses to have one the best four finishing holes in the Denver area...not anymore.
Great course, sad facilities
Plum Creek is a Pete Dye design ex-TPC course that seems to be in financial trouble. Clubhouse, parking lot, cart paths looking a mite shabby, hot dog for lunch, pro shop has little merchandise, has that sort of we're going to close down for good any second now look. But the course is in great shape. Greens, tees, traps and fairways couldn't be better. Challenging layout. Only course negative is that on some holes you're playing down rows of townhomes scant yards from the fairway. On a couple of the tees, you could reach onto a patio grill and grab a burger. But, hey, a Dye design for $45? I recommend you play the course, and don't look at anything else.
Course in Good Shape But Overpriced
The course was in good shape and was well maintained but there were some basic player features missing that shouldn't have been at $70/per player. There was no map of the course nor pin placement display. There were no ball washers or rather I never saw any. Overall, the course is nice and a decent challenge but the staff was nowhere to be found. I waited in the pro-shop for a good ten minutes before being attended to. They were only offering hotdogs for food. Overall this course is fun but overpriced for lack of service.
Nice course - outdated facilities
Course was in good shape, despite the poor condition of the driving range. Pace of play was almost 5 hours.
mountain golf
Great course-first time I played at this elevation-great for the ego !
Staff was very helpful
Rental clubs looked brand new
Great course
The course was in excellent condition played beautifully paste the time was great just overall Great golf course
Fairways and greens are nice
Once they fix the cart paths it will be a top notch course again!!
can't believe I waited so long to play it
The wife and I always play some where different for our anniversary. She was happy and wants to play it again. My second time and I really like the layout. Want to get a group to go before winter
Comeback trail
Plum Creek has been falling apart in recent years, mostly infrastructure then the course wasn't getting enough water. Sad to see for a Pete Dye course. IT appears they are saving it. I understand it is in bankruptcy, but there is a plan to restore the course with some development that would affect one hole and the driving range area. They were working on the cart paths when we played 8/27, so while there is some disruption now, I'm glad to know this track will survive. There is also new management during the bankruptcy, and they seem more professional than the previous staff who were at times surly. #10 is now #1, so that's good. The finishing holes were pretty rough, now you can play them while you're still fresh!!!
