Pine Creek Golf Club

About
Pine Creek Golf Course is part of the La Plata Communities in Colorado Springs. The course winds through the Pine Creek Valley, providing a lush and varied landscape. The course sprawls across high plains grasslands with abundant trees and lakes coming into play throughout. The seemingly gentle terrain has tricky undulations that total over 375 feet of elevation changes. The front is a canyon-style nine while the back is more of an American links design. There are creek beds coming into play on nearly every hole as well as strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers stunning views of Pikes Peak, the Front Range, and the entire Colorado Springs skyline. At Pine Creek there is also a unique elevated, target-oriented grass driving range, a practice green, and a short game area.

A heavy frost covered the vegetation as the maintenance crews blew out the sprinkler system as we played. This is the tee box of # 11. Photo submitted by skibumcolorado on 11/21/2013
Very fun Layout
My first time playing in Colorado. I really enjoyed this course. Beautiful views and the course was in fantastic shape. The green rolled a little slow but they were very smooth and true. The course layout is set up so that you could play many of the holes with multiple strategies. I will definitely be back next time in Colorado Springs. I got a hot deal so the price was great!
Great course with one major caveat
Let me be clear - I LOVE Pine Creek Golf Club. It Is a wonderful layout with every challenge a golfer could think of; a creek that loves to swallow your good tee shot, lush grass, geat fairways, greens, etc. And plenty of well placed sand traps.
But there is where the problem is - the traps. They are in HORRIBLE condition. They are filled with sand that has chat rock in it and most of them look like they haven't been raked in months or even years. Ther is grass in some that is 6" tall. Really? Half the time I just lift the ball and place on grass so I can have a fair shot, which is ridiculous on a high end course.
I've seen fees up to $150 here. (Average is about 90 - 100 dollars). If the consumer wants to pay premium money for golf they should get sand that has been raked every morning. Period. And get the grass out of them.
They fill their course most days and make their tidy profit, so they will probably never do anything about it. That's too bad, because it is a GREAT layout, and also is one of the most scenic courses around. Mountain golf at it's best with a hiiccup.
Tell them you heard the traps are horiiible, and ask if they plan to do anything about it. Competition is stiff!
Nice course, great views.
Good overall course. Would not pay full price to play which makes golf now so awesome. Can play these higher price course for cheaper and not as disappointed when playing and see work being done in middle of fairways, or other discrepancies around course.
Perfect weather until...
Perfect weather until... hole#17 and 18 but I figured it out... check out the video from #17 approach shot in the driving rain and hail storm :)!
Wow... only my second round here and even more memorable and exciting!
Result was pin high birdie putt and then racing uphill to play #18, great drive and almost holed out my approach from 150 yards... great way to wrap up this round.
This course is a great mix of risk/reward, some big greens, tough pins, tough bunkers, deep rough and that's in perfect calm conditions. Good luck if it gets windy... and it will! Cheers!
Delusion at its Finest
Pine Creek WOULD be a solid golf course. The front 9 has a great layout and the back 9 is as tight as you can find on the Front Range. The course is always in OK condition and has amazing views of Pikes Peak. BUT
The ownership is beyond insane to charge the prices they do. You’re looking at well over $100 on the weekends and $90+ during the week for a golf course that is actively being reworked and renovated. A morning round on Fathers Day is $150. DO NOT waste your money. Patty Jewett is city owned $51 to walk on the weekends and in much better condition. For the price you’re much better off playing Kingsdeer, Cheyenne Shadows, Patty Jewett, Valley Hi, Eisenhower on the Air Force Academy if you can, Four Mile Ranch in Canyon City, any of the Pueblo courses, Plum Creek in Castle Rock or Shining Mountain in Woodland Park. Antler Creek is in horrendous shape and I would still rather play there 3 times for the price of Pine Creek. Somehow it’s even cheaper to play Bear Dance in Larkspur for a twilight round. It may actually be cheaper to join a country club if you play multiple times a week. The absurd prices don’t stop at Green Fees either. A large bucket of range balls is $15, there is a per golfer booking fee if you want to pay online and beers are $8 + tax (and the beer carts don’t have change available). On top everything previously mentioned, Pine Creek has the audacity to charge a 2% surcharge on everything if you pay with credit card.
I have played golf all along the Front Range from Fort Collins to Pueblo and this golf course is hands down bar none without a doubt the worst value in the state of Colorado.
We played on Fathers Day and paid $68 on a hot deal. I still felt a little bit ripped off. The bunkers haven’t seen sand in 10 years, there are still sprinkler issues and hole 12 is actively torn up. The rough has dandelions growing everywhere. All of those issues could be overlooked if the course didn’t rob people blind.
Save your money and go play any other golf course on earth. It’s cheaper to drive out of your way and play somewhere where customers are respected. I want this course to succeed but it will inevitably fail because the prices are so out of touch with reality that there is no incentive to play here. Even the “Piney Pass” membership is absurd. For over $3,000 you are not able to play on the weekends until after 12pm.
Please go spend your money somewhere, anywhere else.
Pine Creek - Great weekday getaway
We played on a Monday and the weather was fantastic. The course had an interesting and challenging layout which we enjoyed. Some of the fairways were a little spotty, but for the most part the course was in very good condition. Staff were all friendly and helpful. I would definitely play it again.
Not worth the money, unless you are getting a good tee off deal
This course has a great layout, but it is never in good enough shape if you are paying full price at $95.
Greens were ok, fairly slow and they hadn’t mowed the rough in quite a while. I am not here to play in PGA championship rough
Every bunker was virtually unplayable and needs serious renovation. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape, and you will get beautiful pikes peak views throughout your round
A really nice, challenging course
A challenging course in better than average condition.
Good shape
Greens were sanded which made putting a challenge. Grass is coming back from sprinkler problems in past.
