The Ocean Course is one of two championship courses at Kona Country Club. As its name implies, this course has an oceanfront location with views of the surrounding mountains that are home to its sister course, the Mountain Course. The Ocean Course provides an easier, but no less enjoyable round than its sibling. The layout features wide-open fairways and numerous strategically placed sand bunkers. The turquoise waters and black lava outcroppings provide natural hazards. The signature holes are the third and 12th, but one of the most memorable is the 13th hole where during November through March, you can catch a glimpse of a humpback whale. While both Kona C.C. golf courses provide a variety of challenges, the Ocean Course is a gentle, more player-friendly option that still features the same stunning views as the Mountain Course.

I have to agree with many other reviewers, the staff was almost rude. Lazy…. I had to lug my bag to the cart area, load it, unload it when done. All the guy said to me near the carts was “all carts come in at 5:45! Course rules!

Nicest ocean view course

This is the nicest course on the Big Island for ocean side holes. I’ve played most of the Big Island courses and this is tops for what I have played in terms of ocean side holes. Conditions were great and pace of play was normal. My wife and I played here twice during our 1 week stay and would have enjoyed playing again.

Excellent Big Island course

This was a fun and challenging course. The cost, with a discount through GolfNow, was reasonable for Hawaii. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pace of Play expectations were fine; we got out behind 2 groups of guys in a wedding party, most of whom weren't very good and played slow. The marshal tried to get them to play faster, without a lot of success. This appeared to be a one-off. The layout and conditions were interesting and a lot of fun. The view of the coast was fantastic.

Great course. Setting is beautiful. Ocean side holes along with many wide open fairways. The challenge on this course is definitely the greens. The greens are in great shape just hard to figure which way the ball is going to go. Would highly recommend this course.
