Sunset Golf Course
About
Located in Longmont, the nine-hole, municipal Sunset Golf Course is a great, affordable option for beginners and families. Opened in 1924, it is one of Colorado's oldest golf courses. Although experienced golfers may not find it challenging enough, the course provides an excellent spot to practice your short game and it is definitely one of the most scenic courses in the area with beautiful views of Long's Peak. The par-34 course covers 2,981 yards from its longest tees. The terrain of Sunset Golf Course is quite hilly and the tree-lined fairways are very narrow. No water hazards come into play but the course is well-bunkered. The signature hole is the par-4 fourth hole.

Nice little course
This is a nice little 9 hole course. Super nice staff.
great value, but....
great value, but plan your day carefully. pace of play is not enfored.
City Course but Poorly Maintained
I've lived in Longmont for about 7 years. I grew up in Florida and worked on several PGA courses. I understand course maintenance and unfortunately Sunset suffers from a lack of TLC. The turf grass on the course are in very poor condition including the greens. It's time for Longmont to spend some money on this course and bring it up to moderate playability.
Great 9 hole course
For a nine hole course this one is fun to play, and challenging.
Good Course
This course is an 9 hole Executive style course with mostly par 4 holes and 2 par 3's for a good par total. The course was fun and not too challenging, however, their are a few tricks to a few holes that make it entertaining though. Staff was friendly, the course was very well maintained for how much they allow you to drive the carts around them. I would play here again.
To whom it may concern,
To whom it may concern,
Yesterday you can see I purchased a tee time for 4 at Sunset golf course for myself and my 3 children. We were going to have a fun time. On the 2nd hole my Daughter was hit by a golf bal directly in the head. It was a grusome scene and the paramedics were called in. She ended up in the Emergency room for a concussion and stiches. So ended our golf day. One of my son's asked if were could get a rain check while all the kaos was going on. Much to his surprise, they told him because we used Golfnow.com that there would be no rain check. This shows no empathy for Sunset's customers. With that type of resonse, I will never use their golf course again, nontheless Golfnow.com. Just letting you know how your associates handle their customers.
Great 9 hole course, some par 3's, most par 4's and NO par 5's.
I really like this course at Sunset Golf Club. For only being a 9 hole course it plays great. One of the last Par 4's towards the end plays like a par 5. Other par 4's are shorter, but hey, who wouldnt love to almost drive the green and have a short chip for and Eagle try?
nice course
not too challenging of a course. good time for a few hacks just wanting to hang out and spend some time together.
Great price for 9 holes of golf close to home
Be prepared for many families on this course. It is nestled within a city neighborhood. Tight fairways (60' wide?). Balls settle into the rough (I found at least 5 balls just feet off the fairway that other golfers could not find). Greens are ok, but there are some bare-spots just off fairways. So it is either a tough rough or a bald spot if you don't hit straight.
Stunning views and history to boot
One of the oldest courses in Colorado, Sunset still sets a standard to play. History buffs will love the WPA shelter in the middle of the track. But, the views alone are worth the price of admission. The greens are firm from years of play and force the bump and run. The fairways are well maintained as is the rough. Definitely worth 15.00 for a round of nine. Good for beginners to advanced. It's no country club, but 75 year old trees are a great site on any Colorado course.
Looks easy, but...
Friendly course with wide fairways, great views from the rolling hills, and very few hazards. Don't expect a record score, though, because the greens are fast, and the grass on the fringes is very thick. Only nine holes; play twice for 18.
very good
most holes are generally straight. Very nice coarse maintenance good greens. Perfect for a quick fun 2 hr. after work coarse.
the course was in good shape
I took my son to play 9 holes, staff was cordial, course was in great shape, but the other golfers were very pushy. We ended up with 2 other golfers asking to play along with us because they didn't want to wait, even though it made no difference since a group of 4 ahead of us was playing slowly. Not thrilled with the experiance, will not be going back any time soon.
Cheap- real friendly staff there.
Hilly, short- tricky greens. But a great value. The staff there are vey nice people.
Tight fairways, great views
Beautiful, almost 90 year old course, nestled in the middle of Longmont.
Tall tree-lined fairways and adjacent streets require straight drives for par. No water. Little sand. Par 34, no par fives. 5966 yards from the blues. Lots of leaves yesterday.
They have a practice green, and a chipping area, but no driving range.
One of the coolest 9 hole courses ever played. Holes have great personality.
A lot of mature trees. Most holes are either up or down. A few doglegs. Long par 3's from the tips. Not one things to complain about except the condition of the no. 1 green. But, I think it is because it doesn't get much sun and is in the shade most of the time. Otherwise a great course and highly recommend. As I said, one of the coolest 9 hole courses I've ever played on.
