Royal Hawaiian Golf Club

I had not played this course since it was Luana Hills Country Club years ago. The updates made have been great in terms of removing deadfall and other erroneous coverage. Course was in great shape (for aerification conditions) and is absolutely beautiful. Enjoy the scenery and layout of this course more than Ko'olau (which also has a tendency to be very wet). Great course.

$200 to play, 5 hours pace of play, $80 rider fee, and all cart path only ????

Stay away from this course, there are so many more to play in Honolulu

If your handicap is in to 20s, this will be a challenging and frustrating course. Fairways are narrow, terrain is hilly. I lost a lot of golf balls in the jungle or deep rough. The course is cart path only and some holes and greens under repair. This course is beyond my skill level so I will not be playing it again anytime soon

I played this course for more than 15 years as i am visiting Honolulu few times a year.

I always enjoyed it as it is beautiful, not crowed and priced reasonably.

I played again on 3/7/2026, rate was crazy high as $200 , rider fee was $80 !!!!! And pace of play was 5 hours … Definitely not the golf course i used to play !

Probably my last time here, time to play courses where they respect customers…

My babe and I enjoyed the heck out of the course. Lost 5 balls and found 10. The scenery was so awesome and serene. Weather was perfect. People were the friendliest in the island. The drive from Waikiki was so much easier than going west.

Only negative was cart path only on most of the course, it rained 20"+ recently.

The conditions of the course were not good but the scenery was 10/10.

Love this course. There is nothing like it. It is like golfing in Jurassic Park with its gorgeous scenery. The course is tough and many balls will be lost if you don't keep it on the fairway. But I enjoyed the challenge.

The green condition is vey bad but the price is expensive.

Front nine especially felt very much like playing golf in Jurassic Park. However The conditions were not good for the price. Back nine a little better shape and more open. the course is challenging.

The course was poorly maintained, and the cart-path-only restriction further diminished the overall experience. The parking garage was also closed due to a recent fire, requiring us to park down the hill and walk up to the clubhouse, which added to the inconvenience.

Considering the price we paid, the experience was not worth it. I’ve played this course many times in the past, and it was once one of my favorite courses in Hawaii. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I now find that other courses offer a much better overall experience.

I mean there were some fairway that were patchy along with greens but I am not sure there are better views for a golf course on this earth and for that alone it will always be worth it to play Royal Hawaiian

My three friends and I were supposed to play Saturday morning. We were all fired up. ( No pun intended) As we pulled up Saturday morning, we noticed a Honolulu Firefighter there. I didn't realize who he was at first so I had asked him where I could park. He told me the course was closed due to all the golf carts burning up a couple nights prior. We drove from Waikiki and were given this disappointing news. NO EMAIL, NO PHONE CALL, NO nothing to give us a heads up of what happened. TRULY DISAPPOINTING

Drove 50 mins to play here and right at the moment before card swipe to pay, the pro shop mentioned punch greens. With some warning I could have save my time

And go somewhere else.

Great scenery and good course.
