Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course from Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is the only 18-hole course at the facility. Designed by Frank Hummel, the course opened in 1959 and used to include the 9 holes of the Blue Course as the front nine. Currently however, both the Gold and the Blue are separate courses. The landscape of the Gold is hilly and seven ponds create a beautiful atmosphere while also adding challenging water hazards to eleven holes. Although the entire course is scenic, the 12th hole is considered to have the most picturesque views. Its elevated tee offers gorgeous vistas of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is known not only for its gorgeous scenery, it has also received acclaim from golf publications such as Golf Digest.

Overbooked
Started @ 230, and played 11 holes. At that point there was a foursome on the t box a foursome waiting and our foursome arriving and I quit.

Everything was great except pace of play. Pace of play was slow. There was a frost delay which likely casued the slow play as the course tried to catch up.
Driving range is on mats. It should be on grass. They have a grass area for the range but it appears they do not want to maintain it so p[atrons are stuck using mats.
Great course, horrible pace of play.
Started a round at 2pm on a Friday. Only got to hole 18 at 6:30p when we ran out of time due to course management putting FAR too many people out on the course and not sending a ranger out to speed up play. Frustrating to pay for a full round and not even be close to finishing.
Good day for golf
Friendly and welcoming staff. Some of the fairways need some TLC.
terrible experiene
Course played sooooo slow. There are no amenities as far as food goes at the clubhouse. Very dissapointing experience, won't return.
Beautiful Fall Day at Hyland Hills Gold Course
Paired up with a couple great guys. Pace was slow due to a tournament going on. Barely finished by dark with a 1:40 pm Tee Time. Would highly recommend this course.
slow play
We teed off at 2:10, but did not finish the round - darkness fell a little later than 7:00. We played the 17th in semi-darkness, and hit tee shots on the 18th in darkness. It should not take 5 hours to get round a golf course. We also came across torn apart beer cans on the 17th green, which we assume were from the group in front of us.
The course was in good shape even with the aeration of the fairway. Pace of play was decent even though we were behind a foursome; 3 of which looked like they never played before.
Great Round!
The course was in excellent condition for late summer. The late afternoon deal is quite enticing, too. We’ll be back!
Usually a better experience.
A few years back my friends and I used to play Hylabd Golds about once a week, and the blues about every other week. I hadn’t played here in probably about 2-3 years, and when we made the tee time I was actually looking forward to coming back. Not sure if it just wasn’t their best day, or what, but all the putting greens were littered with leaves making reading putts incredibly difficult, the fairways were littered with leaves making spotting everybody’s balls significantly more challenging than usual. But at the end of the day, weather is weather and they can’t control where the leaves blow, but the most disappointing thing had to be the on course food/drinks. We never saw a confessions cart through the entire round, the usual bathroom spot on the back nine with vending machines were closed, the concessions stand on the back 9 was also closed, and we called the clubhouse while teeing off hole 12 to get some drink service but nobody answered. All things considered my group will probably just hit another local course.
