Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course from Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is the only 18-hole course at the facility. Designed by Frank Hummel, the course opened in 1959 and used to include the 9 holes of the Blue Course as the front nine. Currently however, both the Gold and the Blue are separate courses. The landscape of the Gold is hilly and seven ponds create a beautiful atmosphere while also adding challenging water hazards to eleven holes. Although the entire course is scenic, the 12th hole is considered to have the most picturesque views. Its elevated tee offers gorgeous vistas of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is known not only for its gorgeous scenery, it has also received acclaim from golf publications such as Golf Digest.

Usually better
I was surprised to find the greens aerated with 1/4” holes throughout the course. I know this happens in our region this time of year, but there was no indication at the course website or during the reservation process. There was an aeration notice posted on the door to the pro shop.
Sprinklers on during my round
With the exception of the sprinklers being on for the 12th hole, it was good.
The course director of golf is a flaming jerk however!!!!!
Not good at all
The course grounds were not in good condition. They mowed and watered the grass/greens while we were playing. Didnt see the cart person once throughout our whole round. They increased their price from $47 to $60 (w/cart). Carts were not clean (cigarette buds and empty nicotine gum wrappings in our cart. No GPS on carts.
Fun course, leaf issues
This course has a fun and varied design, with long par 4s, short par 4s, water, trees, pretty par 3s, and interesting par 5s. My only issues are long grass in the rough and too many leaves on the fairways. I've played it at different times of the year and there always seem to be leaves scattered around fairway and rough. These factors make it hard to find your ball on long shots, even at times in the fairway, which can really slow down play. Please invest in some leaf vacuums and cut the rough just a bit shorter!
PERFECT DAY ON AN EXCELLENT GOLF COURSE
Your course is a wonderful course to play. Always in great condition and well maintained. Challenging holes and their are easier holes. Love to play it. Thanks for honoring 2020 coupons also.
very nice Course
Do you only thing we didn’t like was on Monday and Tuesdays there’s no restaurant there’s no coffee there’s no lunch there’s no drinks and 19th hole no cacao that was disappointing
The course (Gold Course) was enjoyable and a good test for my level. The only thing that I had an issue with was the location of the fairway cart markers being so far from the greens. There were many times that if you were 10-15 yards short of the green on the approach shot, you either had to walk back to the cart if left in the fairway or if the cart was driven all the way to the green, you had to walk backwards to your ball. This slowed the pace of play at times.
Was also disappointed that the clubhouse grill was not open when we finished. We usually enjoy having a bite to eat after our round. Lastly, $5 for the breakfast burrito served on the course was a bit high given the size. Tasted good but was somewhat skimpy.
