Richter Park Golf Course
About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Crossovers
I am physically handicapped, and to many areas were blocked to allow carts on fairways
So slow
I've played this course many times and whenever I do so on the weekends it seems to be overbooked. We were unable to get in 18 holes before darkness (took over 5 hours for 15 holes) and we were waiting on every tee box.
Great course
I love playing Richter , since the course is always in great condition! The course is challenging but fair . I especially like the par 3's on the front nine at 3 & 5.
the course layout is very nice challenging holes very well maintained
would definitely play again especially with golf now
Good better then good
I will play two times more this yearn
Trust.me. Just booking and play
Beautiful view and course
Beautiful course, but slow, bumpy greens
This is a beautiful layout with some very interesting holes. However, when I played there I felt the greens were below average, with respect to speed and smoothness. Also, they have a driving range/practice facility but it is only used for lessons/clinics. They charge pretty steep prices for non-residents here. So, I expect better for the money. There are many other muni courses in CT that have much better greens for much less money (Orange Hills, Tashua Knolls, Smith Richardson, to name a few).
Beautiful Course!
I'd heard a lot about this course and finally got a chance to play it. It lived up to all expectations! Very challenging but fair, beautiful views and in great condition. Highly recommend playing here!!
Great course for the rate
Great challenging course, twilight rate is worth it
Highly Recommend
I made the trip over from the Hartford area on the back of the good online recommendations and was not disappointed. The layout has it all from beautiful scenery to interesting holes with lots of water and elevation changes. Its one of those courses where you cover a lot of ground during the round and never have more than 1 other hole in view of the current one, which i enjoy very much.
From the tips i found the course to be of moderate length with all 4 par 3's in the medium to short iron range and on 3 of the 4 par 5's you can get the ball up around the green in two. Also, on many of the par 4's placement of your tee shot is more important than distance.
The condition of the course was very good but if i could find one thing to nitpick it would be the speed of the greens, as i found them to be about the same as your average public course. With the wet summer in that part of the state i think they could definitely get away with lowering the cut a tad and producing the green speeds you would expect from a premium course such as this.
But i enjoyed the round and will certainly look forward to playing here again one day!
YOUR HANDICAP IS RIGHT ?
I THINK , RUCHTER PARK GC IS THE BEST GOOD FOR TESTING YOUR HANDICAP IS RIGHT OR NOT !
THEY NEED 1 2 3 SHOTS FOR YOUR SCORE !
I MEAN IT IS THE BEST GC FOR TESTING !
OF COURSE IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL TOO
DO NOT MISS IT !
Does not disappoint
My buddy and I had played the course only once before and loved it, but it had been a couple of years (unfortunately). Well, now I can't wait to play again. The course was in fantastic condition. The greens and tee boxes were great. The starter Sent us out early to keep us from being behind an outing and we ended up playing a sub-4 hr round. Love the course. Playable for most - all - handicaps but challenging. As I said, conditions are excellent, staff is very friendly. We also had the Calendar Card and got the resident rate which is a very good deal for a course that's this good!
Play it, enjoy it, then go back and play it again. Hope this is helpful.
Great layout
Played here for first time in many years. course was in excellent condition. Took my son as a treat and it was!
great course
Greens were tough and hard to judge .
Course was rewarding for good shots
and extremely pleasant to the eye .
Everyone will probably enjoy this course
and I would return
This Public Track is a steal at 58 bucks
Always wanted to play this highly rated public course. Weather was perfect and course in almost perfect shape though greens were a bit slow; they hav a big amateur event coming up so they are protecting the assets until then.
Only disappointment; cart paths only. Heavy rains a couple of days ago and again they are protecting the course for the tournament
Nice course, well run
The course is a challenging layout, in great condition, and well managed, but there are many blind shots so it definitely helps to have course knowledge.
Fantastic golf course!
The last time I played this course (over 20 years ago) and it was a "great disappointment" as it didn't live-up to its billing.
However, this time was completely different.
The course was in incredible shape! The fairways were perfect and the greens ran true and fast. We played with a guy from Westchester, NY who plays there regularly and told us that they put a lot of time, money and TLC to bring back the course to its "sterling" reputation.
Although the price was steep (even with GolfNow.com), you've got to play this course at least once a year to understand and appreciate how public golf course "should be kept" - at all times!!!
As the Terminator says, "I'll be back!!!"
Ranger was very friendly and helpful
The course is well maintained with some very challenging holes.
It was worth the ride.
this Course has a lot of water/hill's
LIke they said Richter Park is one of the Top 100 Public Golf Courses in the United States. They should play one of the US Open's there!
Pretty Course
My friends and I liked this course. It's scenic, there is a decent amount of water, and it's well maintained. The greens were slow. Played late afternoon and it was a very enjoyable round.
Lots of water
Fun layout. A few quirky holes, but overall really enjoyable. Better condition and nicer course than Sterling Farms and Oak Hills Park. Will definitely play there again.
