Quick 9 and back to office
Got to play a quick 9 at Whitney farms in one hr. This was November 17 so not crowded on course. Course was in great shape and greens were amazing. Nice course to play with creative and challenging design.
Great Course!
Layout nice , fairways and greens in great shape. Played blue tees. Greens roll fast, some with ridiculous slope and undulation. Some bunkers needed more sand, I bottomed out twice, hitting clay, and bladed the ball.
excellent condition
The entire course was in better than most local courses and the greens were in perfect condition although because they are somewhat hilly can be a challenge. This is a challenging but fair test. If you are playing well you are rewarded but if you are having an off day can be punishing.
Nice course
Challenging course in great condition. Fairways are narrow must keep the ball straight if you hit the ball straight you can score well here
Great quality public golf course
The course was in great shape and the course has lots of challenges. Many par 5a and decent par 3s as well. The greens were in great shape.
In good shape
Greens, fairways and tee boxes all in great shape. Tough and reasonably interesting track. Pleasantly surprised.
Still good from playing
Course has held up from the heat and watering, its still green with some dried out spots in rough not fairways.worth the play you will enjoy the course.
Two big problems
I used Golf Now to book the reservation as at a Senior Rate. At the course I was not charged the Senior rate.
The back nine had just been aerated. It was like putting on a pegboard. We should have been made aware of this aeration either at the time of the reservation or at the course. The Pro Shop staff was indifferent and not helpful.
My yard is in better condition
Tee boxes looked like a just cut the fairway. Fairway's were shabby and the course was loaded with crabgrass. My lawn looks better. This was once one of the premier courses in the area. Certainly not worth the $72 to ride. Much better courses in the area for the money. Skip this if you can
One of the best around
Everything about this course is excellent. Excellent layout, challenging holes, fantastic greens on the back nine. I cannot say this about the front nine since they were just aerated(that's why a rating of only 4 stars for course conditions). Once the necessary aeration season is over with all the greens will be fantastic. Every employee that I met there was very friendly. You can also get breakfast there before teeing off. I have not experienced that anywhere else in the state of CT. I will be going back
Whitney Farms
this course is in very nice shape, it is a long course
and the greens have some challenging puts, I would recommend it for anyone
Not worth money, stay away
Excessive round time (3 and a half hours for 11 holes) couldn't even finish round. Aloud 6 somes (6 people per group). They aloud tee times on both front and back simultaneously which we realized when we were the third group on 10. Inconsiderate staff that was rude right from the get go. The pro Paul is extremely unprofessional and rude. Was told there was times available and there was actually and outing when I got to the course and had to wait another hour just to play. The course itself was in great condition though.
Great course!
My only complaint is that this was not a discount rate. Walk-ins received the exact same rate, so I paid GolfNow for nothing.
Be Humble Here!
Keep the ball in the fairway here . There is 17 holes with ether a water hazard or out of bounds . Course record from the tips is 70 i n tournament play and has been open since 1982. The fairways are plush and greens are very challenging. Get the ball close if you want to make birdie. There are 5 par 3's and 5 par 5's which makes every round interesting . The grill room is filled on Saturday and Sunday and the catering facility upstairs is
awesome. Great Men's Club over 200 members. Tourney's almost every week. Best 3 day member guest around.
