3rd: par-4, 430. This Cape design tempts you to take the shortest route down the fairway toward the green (on left). Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

7th, par-3, 220. A well-guarded and contoured green; a pleasant backdrop. Seen here from its left flank. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

8th: par-4, 352. Green complex at this short and steeply downhill hole--made perilous by a pond. Eagle potential, however. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

The par-4 14th, 447. Long, beautiful, and possibly deadly. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

Sixteen is another excellent, long par-4 concluding on this green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

18th, par-5 of 588. The signature hole? I’ll go for that. Great bunkering from Mungeam. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

golf like it should be.
hit good shot you get rewarded, hit it a little off line you got to work for par. fast greens.
Great Course
2nd time playing Connecticut National. 7:30 tee time from golfnow for $37 cart included. Pace of play was excellent 3:30 for 18. Course layout is a combination of links style & tree lined holes. Course is good condition, with fairways, greens , and rough all very good. Greens are very challenging, featuring a lot of undulation and VERY fast from above the hole. Approach shot placement and chipping/putting are keys for a good score here.
A couple of items to note - The course did not open until 7am. The driving range mats (mats only today) are in terrible condition and need to be replaced. Course did not have drinks / snacks for sale today, bring your own.
Perfect conditions
The greens and fairways were manicured beautifully. Greens are undulating and crisp.
Tee’d off at 3:20 and didn’t only could play 15 holes.
Slowest play ever. 2 foursomes walking in front of us the entire round. Pace of play terrible. Never saw the cart girl. Called club house and they said she was done for the day. Was highly looking forward to playing this course but now I won’t be back. Only was able to play 15 holes, while having a 3:20PM tee time. Unacceptable.
a gem
I had heard good things at my local course in central Connecticut but was still surprised what a beautiful course this is. Conditions were great and the tall blond fescue growing in the rough made it look like a US Open venue. If you expect to score well you better place your approach shots below the hole. The greens are as fast and undulating as any I have ever played. But if you played Augusta would you complain about the greens being too hard to putt?
Great condition
Let me start off by saying that this course is always in good condition. However, with the drought and the overall conditions of every other course in the area, Connecticut National went above and beyond this time. The greens are perfect. Lightning fast like most of the time I play there. The fairways are in great condition. I didn’t see any super noticeable dead spots or dry spots. The grounds crew here deserve a huge thumbs up for a job well done
Wonderful day
It helped that the weather was perfect and I was paired with a bunch of fun golfers. The condition of the course was very good and the greens were outstanding. This is a really nice course and a great value.
Challenging with scenic splendor
This was my first time playing this course, probably due to the hour and fifteen minute drive to get there. It was worth it. The course is well kept and green. Speaking of green, the greens are quick, and if not careful it was easy to go right off the green .It seemed like a long course when playing it. The fairways are fairly wide and the trees are groomed so you can find an occasional errant hit. Some of the tee boxes reminded me what mountain courses are like, with scenic views that make you want to just look for a moment before teeing off. I am planning to take the drive again in the near future back to this gem in the woods. Try it; you will like it.
Fast but fair green
The course was in a great shape. The greens were firm and fast. Hole position of several holes were difficult. Fairways were well maintained. Overall, the course was good.
