3rd: par-4, 430. This Cape design tempts you to take the shortest route down the fairway toward the green (on left). Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

7th, par-3, 220. A well-guarded and contoured green; a pleasant backdrop. Seen here from its left flank. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

8th: par-4, 352. Green complex at this short and steeply downhill hole--made perilous by a pond. Eagle potential, however. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

The par-4 14th, 447. Long, beautiful, and possibly deadly. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

Sixteen is another excellent, long par-4 concluding on this green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

18th, par-5 of 588. The signature hole? I’ll go for that. Great bunkering from Mungeam. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/07/2021

Yardage markers
It would be good to add 100 and 150 yard marks in the fairway. GPS sometimes acts up
The course is in great shape.
There is no club house, it is being renovated. There is no drinking water jugs on the course, which would be nice to have because I played on a hot day.
Always worth the price but be prepared to wait
I have played CT National maybe 15-20 times now and am never disappointed by the course conditions. Greens are always firm, fast and roll true. My only complaint and it is one that many have is how packed the course is so play is very slow. We finished our round in 5 hours and 30 minutes and it was not because of slow play. All holes had at least one group waiting behind the group on the tee box. I guess that is how they can keep the pice so reasonable. That being said… I will keep coming back.. maybe I will try to play on a week day and play an under 4 hour round! That would be the dream!
Nice course, slow playing groups.
The course is in great shape, greens are running fast, fairways are good. Unfortunately for us we got stuck behind slow groups and no where to go. A ranger would help.
Still a fun course to play for the money.
Hot day
It was 98 degrees so not many players out there. We got around in 3 hrs 15 mins.
Course is always well kept with fast smooth greens and pretty tight fairways. Rough was deep and thick.
Traps aren’t great. Sand was hard/ course stuff.
Hidden Gem in NE CT
A wonderful course with the perfect amount of difficulty. They truely take care of this course and gives a major championship feel when you play it. A great mix of low scoring holes, and difficult holes that you would like to just get out with a bogey. This course truly plays to every aspect of your golf game and makes you think about every shot before you take it. Playing safe will reward you and playing risky will hurt you and I love that about a course and this plays into that so well. This is my favorite course I’ve played in CT and I will be continuing to play here many many times going forward.
Great track!
I try to play CT National whenever I can. The layout is challenging and always in great condition. Make this course a stop on your season if you can.
Always great to play here
Greens were very quick and rolled nice.
Rough was still wet and thick after a day of rain.
It would be good to add yardage markers in the fairway.
Always Love!
Always love this course. Great value for money and good pace of play.
Always extremely SLOW PLAY
The course is very nice for a public course but time and time again I experience extremely slow play. They have one starter and the other ranges to monitor the course.
2 1/2 hours on the front 9 today and when I arrived on the 10th Tee box, we were the fourth group on the hole. We left.
Fun course
Course was in great shape, although greens were impossible from above the hole. Also would be nice to stagger the tee options a bit, 6200 vs 7000 is a big gap.
Some things would improve overall experience
-install yardage marks in fairways
100/150/200 a simple plastic marker level with the ground would help
-water coolers at a few tee boxes
Otherwise it’s always a great round here.
Bring food
The course was in great shape for so early in the season, and pro shop personnel could not have been nicer.
The only issue was getting any food. Apparently there was a fire in the clubhouse and it is now in the process of being renovated/repaired. The pro shop is working out of a trailer. Because of this, there was basically no food available, with the exception of some small snacks like crackers, candy bars, or Clif bars. I realize this is no fault of the golf course. My only request would be that some sort of notice be put on the website to let future golfers know to either eat before arriving, or bring something for during the round.
