Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane
About
Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane is situated in the quiet town of Woodbridge, just 20 minutes from New Haven. Formerly known as Oak Lane County Club, the course was both renamed and renovated when it was acquired by the management team at The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford. Many of the holes were updated but the golf course retained its challenging but playable nature. Though the course is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels, there are still several challenges in store. Numerous strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greens and towering trees also frame most of the holes. The holes are mostly straightforward with a few tricky doglegs to keep you on your toes. You'll also be confronted with the occasional water hole. Both your accuracy and short-game skills will be tested at Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane.

Nice Course
We played on 4/27/19 right after a few days of heavy rain. The course was still in pretty good condition.
Wet and Soggy
Great course! We play it regularly but the rain this winter and spring have seriously flooded many areas. The course drains poorly to begin with.
Wet and Windy
Enjoy Oak Lane. Tough day for the course (or us) to shine with big rain the past day and a half and a LOT of wind. There were, as would be expected, a ton of leaves getting blown all over. Nothing anyone could do about that! Just 2 of us. Got out just before 2 foursomes (thanks!) and played with no delays on any hole. Took a bit more time as it was cart paths only and leaves made even fairway balls a bit tricky to find. All in all a fun and challenging afternoon. Play here when the weather is nice. Plenty of birdie chances mixed in with some tough holes.
wet conditions
Course very wet from all the rain we received recently. However overall condition was above average. the employees there are very helpful and polite
Good day
Course was in overall very good shape. Drained well after all the rain we've had. Rough was tough and greens were a bit bumpy only because of people not fixing their ball marks and someone wearing metal spikes. Ranger did a good job with the slow 4 some in front of us. Finished in 4:15 so can't complain.
Hopefully Weather Related
I've played here 12+ times this year and this is the 1st review where I need to take Oak lane to task. Fairways were not up to standards w significant patches burned out,(par 5s on back).Summer sun has been baking all Ct. courses, but I can't remember Oak Lane conditions being this below par. Also the greens which are usually a big plus for the course were hairy and around the cups bumps, uneven grass and it looked like a mine field on a couple of greens on the front when lining up from less than 10 ft. Hoping within a few weeks things get back to normal at one of my FAVORITE courses.
Five sets of tees make the playable by all handcaps.
Usually great but a let-down today
I have really enjoyed this course. Every time I play, everything works well. Today, we had a threesome two groups in front of us that were horrible. Instead of playing the usual 4-4.25 hr. round, today was close to 5 hours. The threesome were beginners and hitting multiple balls. Complaints to the Ranger were totally ignored with - " you are on pace...". There were 4 holes empty ahead of the threesome! We were not on pace! A second Ranger finally came out and told the group to pick up! If 5 hr rounds become the norm here, I will go elsewhere.
Greens were solid. Relatively quick, but roll true. Tee boxes were chewed up.
Good Course Great Staff
I would have rated the course higher but the bunkers are awful. Greens where smooth and starting to firm up by the time i hit the turn. Nice facility driving range short game practice areas.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
If these guys can usually deliver 4-4.25 for a public on a weekend, how about saying "thank you" instead of dinging them for a one-off bad group you got unlucky enough to play behind. Lets be fair and realistic folks.
