Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane
About
Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane is situated in the quiet town of Woodbridge, just 20 minutes from New Haven. Formerly known as Oak Lane County Club, the course was both renamed and renovated when it was acquired by the management team at The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford. Many of the holes were updated but the golf course retained its challenging but playable nature. Though the course is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels, there are still several challenges in store. Numerous strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greens and towering trees also frame most of the holes. The holes are mostly straightforward with a few tricky doglegs to keep you on your toes. You'll also be confronted with the occasional water hole. Both your accuracy and short-game skills will be tested at Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane.

Its a good course
My only real complaint were the bunkers, they're in terrible shape. Very rocky and I mean there were a lot of rocks bigger than pebbles and the sand is extremely coarse. Definitely need a lot of work.
Great course!
Beautiful day, great conditions, and the course was beautiful! Really enjoyed my round!
Worth the ride
Drove up from Westchester. Well worth the drive. Course in great shape and challenging. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Great round
Threat of bad weather must have kept bookings down as I got an incredible last minute deal to play 18. New carts with GPS were great and, even though there had been lot's of rain, no cart path restrictions made the cart GPS quite handy. Course in great shape for the most part. Lack of sand in some bunkers but fairways were good and not wet at all, Greens were true and fair speed.
Generally the layout of this course is great though, while the last 6 holes are challenging, the layout for them is far more boring than the 1st 12..
Best public in the area
Course is very well kept. Practice area including the Grass Range is a top notch facility. Staff treats scratch and 20 handicappers the same. I highly suggest this course to anyone. The course is a bit challenging so if you intend to walk do so after 3 because in order to keep pace you must take a cart earlier in the day.
Fun course
Good course that I ca always get on.
Course is in very good shape for early in the year.
Very nice staff of starters and rangers.two groups ahead of us were playing slow and the ranger spoke to them and things moved well after that.
I really like the new carts with GPS.
Terrific Course
Played Saturday and course conditions were great. Had a terrific round with a twosome that I joined. New carts with GPS screens were a bonus. I highly recommend the course.
First Spring Loop
Course played well. Greens punched a couple of weeks ago but still rolled nicely. Will play here again!
Great Course
Beautiful layout. Nice length and great looking holes. Easy to navigate. Only complaint was the greens were being airated, but should be fine in a few days. Overall the course is in excellent condition.
Watch your speed.
Course was in excellent shape for the 1st month of playing. Aerations on the greens were barely perceptible. What was readily apparent was the speed of the greens, too fast if you were above the hole.
I was told they had been rolled that morning and they rolled true just too fast if you were above the hole.
Excellent Value for the Money
Formerly a private course, the former Oak Lane is in excellent condition. Greens were aerated at the time I played. Bunkers are well maintained and clean of debris. I was in the opening group of the day, so I can't comment on pace of play. Staff is not overly welcoming, but again, this was at 6:30 in the morning. I definitely want to continue to play here, and I would recommend Traditions at Oak Lane as a fine golf course for the money.
Good time
The course was in great shape. The only concern was the pace of play. There was a foursome in front of us that backed up several holes behind them. Golf carts with GPS in them. Overall great time!
