Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane
About
Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane is situated in the quiet town of Woodbridge, just 20 minutes from New Haven. Formerly known as Oak Lane County Club, the course was both renamed and renovated when it was acquired by the management team at The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford. Many of the holes were updated but the golf course retained its challenging but playable nature. Though the course is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels, there are still several challenges in store. Numerous strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greens and towering trees also frame most of the holes. The holes are mostly straightforward with a few tricky doglegs to keep you on your toes. You'll also be confronted with the occasional water hole. Both your accuracy and short-game skills will be tested at Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane.

Great Course
Beautiful course. The fairways are nice and open and the greens are challenging. Friendly staff, decent pace of play, good place for baby/bridal showers.
Pleasant country setting. Nice course. Well maintained
Played 18 holes with friend. Very nice. A little long for seniors. Well maintained. And average in difficulty. A little far for me to drive. But nice experience. Could use a few bathrooms on course.
Challenging layout
The staff was friendly the course was in great condition. The greens were fast but true. The pace of play was great. We had a great day the time flew by. I am looking forward to playing this course again and would recommend this course to anyone.
Challenging course, tough greens
Course is in good condition, definitely a challenge if you dont hit the ball straight. Only a couple water holes. Would recommend this couse if you are decent around the greens, it can be frustrating if you lack a short game.
Heartbreaking Greens
I should have consulted G.A. before playing here; I would have been prepared for the green's speed and lack of forgiveness. On more than one occasion, dead center putts broke away from the hole at the last second. Overall, the course was fun and challenging though it would be nice to have more greens that would give high handicappers a chance to score.
Nice course but the greens frustrate me!
I play this course about once a week. It's a good price when you use golf now. Out can usuall get 18 with a cart for between 20 and 40 if you are flexible with your time. I walk this course - not too hilly or tough on the knees. My one complaint is that the greens are TOUGH! Never never never be above the hole here. A 2 putt is considered good in most people's opinion. They seem to be watering the greens more this summer so they aren't quite as fast some days. Play required a mix of club choice- can't hit driver on every hole. Being straight certainly helps here Course is well kept. I've seen multiple deer, a fox and even had a red tail hawk land on the green next to me this week. Beautiful course. Pace of play is ok. I've noticed a Marshall the last few times on the course. Earlier prices are cheaper so I think it may speed up midday when prices go up (and it's warmer)- so fewer people are. out.
this course has a great setup
what a beautiful course. About 6350 yard for back tee but will challenge players of all skill levels. Some fairways are tight but fair. The greens are in excellent shape.some holes you will need to play more break than you think. Can't say enough about the staff, they treated me as if I was a regular.
Very Nice Course
Great condition...Challenging layout
Friendly Staff..Quick greens..Avoid downhill puts
Wow what a challenging course!
Loved this track. Interesting terrain. Challenging but not unfair layout. No really boring holes. Back 9 plays a good 3-5 shots harder from the tips, with 10-11 and 16-17-18 ready to eat your lunch unless ball-striking and driving distance is on point. Loved the grass range (even with limited-distance balls ...) and drink cart out on a Wednesday afternoon. I'll be back - over and over again.
Large and well kept
Several interesting holes maintains fun.
greens a little spotty with different grass mixes.
played 18 w/cart, good pace on Memorial Day holiday.
very challenging course.
great deal on golf now, 18 w cart for $20!
Very pleased
I thought I had played all the good courses in the area, but I found this one and was very impressed. The greens were the best i've played in the area. It's not long or a bombers course, but requires a lot of thought and strategy, which was nice. The layout is great and the value for the money is awesome. The only downside was the pace of play....4:40 for 18 holes on a weekday morning
You'll want to Putt Uphill
Conditions were good for early in the season. Rough was usually thick due what seemed like constant rain the last 10 days or so. Greens were in excellent shape just stay below the hole on your approaches. Challenging layout , Great value.
Just OK
First time playing this course and definitely a challenge if you have never played it! A lot of shots need calculated due to hazards etc. fairways and tee boxes were in poor shape. There were broken tees that littered the tee boxes which could have been from last year. For previously being a private club and for the hype and price I was expecting more.
Good golf experience.
Great course to play for all skill levels. Staff is pleasant and helpful. Good restaurant and 19th hole.
Staff dedicated to a wonderful golf experience
Formerly a high level private club that fell onto hard times, this course was rescued by an area entrepreneur who is doing a superlative job in restoring Oak Lane to its prior level of manicured excellence. There is a bit left to go, but its getting better and better. The owner has recently made significant investments in improving the bunkers, and it is paying off. The professional staff and management are warm, welcoming individuals. The course continues to be playable at bargain rates which sometimes results in heavy play and at times a slower than ideal pace of play, but I'm sure this is simply a sign of the facilities' growing pains. The layout is challenging, with substantial elevation changes and many heavily sloping greens. This is a course that is easy to fall in love with, and one where familiarity is rewarded with the ability to make wise decisions. The facility is on track to become one of the most highly desirable courses in southern Connecticut.
Grear Round
Very challenging as this is my 4th year playing, but I loved it. The staff is courteous and friendly. They manage the pace and tee times better than most places I have played.
4 stars, I can not believe that.
There is only thing great about green except that totally auwful condion of fairway. I better recomand woodbridge golf course than this course.
Friendly staff
playing golf in December, greens were not aerated and putted great, rest of course holding up well considering drought conditions and it is 3 weeks from Christmas
NICE Weather in December
playing an enjoyable round in the low 50's..... I shot extremely well, course was in great shape, greens were fast because the green were pretty hard
Oak Lane is tough.
Great value. The conditions were very good. From the back tees in 40 degrees, it was very tough. We would like another chance before the snow flies.
