Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane
About
Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane is situated in the quiet town of Woodbridge, just 20 minutes from New Haven. Formerly known as Oak Lane County Club, the course was both renamed and renovated when it was acquired by the management team at The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford. Many of the holes were updated but the golf course retained its challenging but playable nature. Though the course is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels, there are still several challenges in store. Numerous strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greens and towering trees also frame most of the holes. The holes are mostly straightforward with a few tricky doglegs to keep you on your toes. You'll also be confronted with the occasional water hole. Both your accuracy and short-game skills will be tested at Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane.

Course conditions
Course was in great shape. Would say everyone should play there at least once.
Thank you Again Oak Lane
Played this morning 7/26 behind some guys who said they were going to bash Oak Lane on a review for their weather/lightning policy. I think they just wanted to complain so they would get something free!I have to say the course handled things perfectly and I had a great round despite the storm. Course is in great shape and the staff is the best. Keep it up Oak Lane, you guys rock!
Amazing course literally 5 minutes off Exit 57 on the Merrit!
Been here twice the past month, both times booked a 6:45 AM (early bird) Tee Time. I have a horrible slice with my driver, and besides 2 holes, Fairways are very forgiving. One hole is a par 3 is 180 yards out, uphill, tests your limits. There are a few hazards that require strategy to either play short or go for it all, but they are clearly marked which I enjoy. Bunkers are better than other courses (actually have decent sand and not rock hard) I travel 40 minutes from Ridgefield/Wilton and find it completely worth it. If you haven't checked this course out, do so ASAP! One of the best places to land a round of 18 with cart for $30 (sometimes even as low as $20!)
Great Track
I seldom contribute commentary....
However, I have visited Oak Lane numerous times this season. Last Sunday, July 19th, we encountered a foursome ahead of us, that were at least, one and a half holes behind the next group.
Each time the drink cart appeared, they flocked and lingered with out any urgency to move along. I know the ranger spoke with them on at least one occasion.
On 15, we walked off the green, they had already teed off for 16, but didn't see the hurry to get in to their carts and proceed to their tee shots. After, 16, we asked to play through since half of our foursome had to leave due to prior engagements, and we were now only a twosome. One of the players in the group was very courteous and had a solid grasp of etiquette and rules regarding pace of play. However, two of the other members of the group became belligerent, and vulgar. Was not a pleasant end to a great day.
That said, we still love the course.
Will be back again very soon!!
Amazing course and amazing value. Will be back next weekend!
Best value I've found in this area
Course was great, conditions way above most public facilities and at $35 (pm golfnow price) a great value. I will be back.
course
Course was in great shape course was challenging with several long holes
Always in great shape
I regularly play at Oak Lane. It is a challenging course that is always well maintained and in very good condition. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Course is in great shape
Great golf experience. Greens were in awesome shape.
Good Experience
Pleasant experience at a fine course,. The course was in very good shape. In my opinion every hole, but #1, are good golf holes! The whole setup is very User-Friendly. I would recommend it without hesitation! Great alternative to public courses in area at basically the same price!
Bring a jackhammer
Played early morning after thunderstorm. Course absorbed moisture well, except bunkers. Some were washed out badly. Besides that, the "sand" was hard as rocks, impossible to play from. I don't think that was a result of the rain. Course needs to invest in a few hundred yards of REAL sand.
EARLY MORNING
Flags were missing at some holes. Greens were not rolled and wet. Grass clippings were all over the place. Landscapers were in the way.
great course
course was in excellent shape and has a lot of interested holes.
First Time
The course is great. Challenging and Versatile. I recommend it.
GREAT SHAPE
I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT THE SAND TRAPS AROUND THE GREENS I FORGOT ABOUT ALL THE BREAKS ON THE GREENS -- LOL
Well maintained course, always improving the grounds
Love this course, wide open fairways, rolled greens,
great staff.
Nice course for the money
This was a very nice little course with a lot of potential for improvement.
The tee boxes were a little chewed up and the 17th and 18th holes have some ground work that is required.
Great experience
Course conditions were very good. Tee boxes were well maintained as were the greens (they were a bit more chewed up on the back 9 than the front).
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The shop could use some sprucing up.
All in all a very good no-frills facility - it looks as though they spend their income on the course and not in unnecessaries.
Thanks Again Oak Lane
You guys have outdone yourselves Oak Lane. Played on what looked like an extremely busy Sunday and could not have been happier. Pace of play was great, I even saw the Pro driving around checking in with players on the course. Greens at this course are the best in the State, I have played more than an dozen courses this year and I keep coming back here. Love the range too!
Great course
Beautiful layout. A shot makers course with the best greens in the area. All around course you could call home
