Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane
About
Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane is situated in the quiet town of Woodbridge, just 20 minutes from New Haven. Formerly known as Oak Lane County Club, the course was both renamed and renovated when it was acquired by the management team at The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford. Many of the holes were updated but the golf course retained its challenging but playable nature. Though the course is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels, there are still several challenges in store. Numerous strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greens and towering trees also frame most of the holes. The holes are mostly straightforward with a few tricky doglegs to keep you on your toes. You'll also be confronted with the occasional water hole. Both your accuracy and short-game skills will be tested at Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane.

What a surprise
Never played before but very pleasant surprise. Beautiful track in very good shape for volume of play they seem to do. 4.25 hours on a jam-packed Friday with stellar weather. Can't beat it. We'll be back.
Enjoyed my round
Great day for a golf round. For a busy public course it plays quickly and green are in good shape.
Enjoying the course
Played this course for the first time a couple days earlier. Liked it so much wanted to come back and I brought a new friend to experience it. This course is nice with enough challenges to make it interesting. Nicely maintained. Excited to go back.

Nice track and when they cut the greens they are tough. Not a straight putt anywhere? For the most part wide open and should be a fast round but it took forever (just shy of 5hrs..on a Monday). Total bummer!
Definitely an great, exciting, well manicured course.
We played on Father's day and despite some of the previous reviews from that day we played a fast round in the middle of a very busy day. The Ranger and the Pro were both out there helping groups along and made for an excellent day. The course was awesome, the greens were fast and the food after the round was very good as well. I will be back to play this course very soon, great job guys!
Good Value
The course was in good shape. Greens were fast. The pace of play was a little slow for a weekday morning tee time.
Great value for money!
Excellent course for what you pay for, especially when you can pick up tee times through Golf Now ;)
Course in great shape BUT greens were really slow
I like this course, well maintained and quick pace to play eighteen. Only concern in THIS round was that the greens were extremely slow, in good shape but slow.. Enjoyed the round though..
Very nice Fathers day!
It was a great Day for golf. We had a 10:48M tee time and we went off right on time. No delay at all. They understand how to move groups out perfect timing and space. The course conditions are excellent worth $65... The only issue i have is the rd was over 5 hrs.. They need to have more people on staff to move groups along.. Also cart girl was around every 2-3 holes if you needed anything. Overall really good
Slow Pace of Play on a boring layout
I had high hopes. But a slow pace of play with poor conditions in rain damaged bunkers and a boring layout cut through with powerlines ruined those hopes.
If you like to play at a reasonable pace, prefer bunkers to be raked and like some visual interest in your golf course, this is not the place for you.
A challenging course
This course is challenging. A number of par 4s and par 5s and three par 3s. Fairly consistent markers, but in some cases no indication of the distances to hazards that lay across the fairways, especially when the hazards were not visible from the tees. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition, and greens are not altogether forgiving. An enjoyable course for a serious golfer.
All about the bottom line
the golf course itself is nice- good variation of holes , a decent challenge if not more. The problem is the money grubbing- prices way to high. Also place can be overbooked- case in point played nine (3 hours) -course was very wet and got a raincheck. returned a week later and they clipped me for another $9.50 claiming a ppirice increase. Spoke to manager who gave me lip service and bragged about what a great "value" and course it is. Places like this give the word "public" a bad name!!!
wet Conditions but Still good
Was wet frombthe night before but the course played very firm.
Good Course - Could be Great
Like the course, played many rounds previously. With a little more attention to detail, this could be outstanding. Realize early in season, but need more definition of fairway to rough. Greens to intermediate cut. Nice blacktop paths at certain points then gravel, bumpy portion over tree roots.
For the money, a good value. Would pay a little more for a "little more" from the course. "Free Wings" should not be the way to attract!
Best course in the area by far!
Loved everything about this course. The staff treats you like a VIP, the greens were great and the food was awesome!!! I have played all the courses in the area and you are wasting your money by not playing Oak Lane, trust me its a gem!
Love this course
Played the course several times last year during the summer and the course was always in great condition. Played yesterday (early April) and the course was in great shape despite a long winter. One of my favorite courses.
they should tell u cart paths only when you make tee time
this is not the first time I played the course but the first time I played that it was cart path only. this wouldn't have bothered me so much except that I had a complete knee replacement in January of this year. If they would have told me of court path only I might not have played. no exception for handicapped player very disappointed.
Good course great staff
Enjoyed the layout. Not very many blind shots which was good for playing it the first time. Course was in good shape for the time of year. Look forward to playing it again in the summer
Challenging but fair
Used tp play the a lot. Challenging but fair. Good shots work.
Fun to play. Challenging but fair.
One of the better public courses around here. We had a shotgun start on Sat. 11/9/13 the best part of which was not having to start on hole #1. We finallt figured it out though. It's your second shot that counts there. Great time.
