First time at Back Creek
I played Back Creek for the first time in a threesome on a weekday morning in late Spring. The course is links-style, with few trees, and pretty wide open, except for a few holes. It was an enjoyable round. The course was in good shape, as it should be as the Spring weather has been ideal for course conditioning. Pace of play was excellent at 3:40. The course is not easy, but the layout was pretty fair, particularly in giving you the ability to spray your tee shots, but still find them. Some of the greens were quite challenging, but not unfair. The course is now owned by Ron Jaworski’s group, and there were signs promising updates to the clubhouse and restaurant, but everything was in decent shape. I’d play it again.
Pace so bad we couldn't finish
Quit 4 holes shy after 5 hrs. Was at the tee box for 20 minutes as 5 groups gathered in wait. Turns out the starter allowed a 6 some to play on Memorial day. No cart service...no ranger...and when complaints were made to the staff, they merely laughed and said they knew.
Looking Good
Early Saturday morning round, pace wasn’t bad, about 4 hours 15 minutes. Course is in great condition, they’re trying to grow up the rough, chipping around the greens is now more difficult. Bunkers need some love comparatively to the rest of the course, but are very playable.
Pretty nice
First time playing here this year. Saw a window in between rain showers so I went for it. Course was in better condition than I expected. Last time I saw it last year it was looking pretty beat up. Greens and fairways were great. Some tee boxes are a little furry. Traps were decent. No rain covers on the carts which woulda been nice with the sprinkling weather I had. Good value for the price.
Great layout
Absolutely loved the course layout. Challenging and interesting. The rough and fairways weren't in the best shape. Grass growing in a lot of the bunkers. Greens were just punched/sanded but I would guess they're normally in very good shape.
Aerated Greens
Greens were aerated and not mentioned at the time of booking. Pace was super slow. Used to play here a lot, but slowly backing away.
course is being reconditioned
review at this time would not be fair...the greens and fairways have just been aerated. plugs everywhere along green, plugs on greens not fully filled with sand but plugs removed.
