Situated just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, White Pines Golf Club has been a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The club offers two courses, the East and the West. The West Course is longer than the East by 400 yards and considered slightly more challenging. The layout is relatively tight and there is an abundance of trees, which means you'll need to be accurate to do well. The greens are large and challenging with difficult-to-read breaks. There is also minimal, but strategic bunkering along the greensides. The fairways provide plenty of variety with some that are narrow and heavily tree-lined and others that are wide with no trees in sight. The golf course has several challenging holes but it's forgiving enough for beginners to approach with confidence.

Should have stopped playing after 3rd hole.
I've played this course several times, and also at this time of the year, and I've never seen it such bad shape. If a person didn't play here several times they would have not known which way to turn after finishing a hole. All the signs designating the particular hole were removed. I played at another course ,Tuesday, and all hole signs were posted.
Solid course, a few minor improvements could help a lot
Good course overall with a nice layout… Fun for all levels. The staff was very friendly, but the ranger didn’t enforce a reasonable pace of play. Also, the halfway house and facilities were inexplicably closed.

The course is manicured perfectly for fall golf and the pace of play was great
Great time
Played 36 holes with no issues. Decided to play extra round. Good deal had time to get hotdog. Played with twosome and no delays. I’m happy.
the staff makes a huge difference
believe her name was Emma but not positive. she greeted us at the front desk check in. just want to say she was outstanding as one of our group had difficulty making the tee time. she said not to worry as she would work with us.. she just made us relax and enjoy the afternoon. the person did arrive on time but it was the thought and how she handled the situation that made the difference. thanks
Near Perfection
Perfect weather and $25 w/cart for this course is a steal. Tee boxes were a little beat up but that's the only real complaint I have.
Nice course
A few tees were under water/muddy but overall a well kept course given the rain we’ve had recently.
Good for public course
Layout was very good p, employees were excellent, some areas of fairways were hard as concrete while greens were deceptively slow and soft. Tee boxes were great not chewed up with divots. Sand traps were rocky and needed to be raked as they were compacted sand
Cart issues
Golf cart broke down and had to walk 2 holes before they replaced it. No compensation offered for the issue. The replacement cart also had issue. Had to use reserve to get from one green to tee box.
