West at White Pines Golf Course
About
Situated just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, White Pines Golf Club has been a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The club offers two courses, the East and the West. The West Course is longer than the East by 400 yards and considered slightly more challenging. The layout is relatively tight and there is an abundance of trees, which means you'll need to be accurate to do well. The greens are large and challenging with difficult-to-read breaks. There is also minimal, but strategic bunkering along the greensides. The fairways provide plenty of variety with some that are narrow and heavily tree-lined and others that are wide with no trees in sight. The golf course has several challenging holes but it's forgiving enough for beginners to approach with confidence.

Quick
Staff was great and able get me started ahead of schedule. Moved me from East front to West back. Finished back 9 and moved to front. Got paired with another player and we e joyed the final 9. Great day and fun to play.
White Pines West Course
This is a really nice course. Fairways are in great shape and the greens are a good challenge. Will play the East Course the next time I play here. Highly recommend this course.
East Course
Played the East course. Supposed to be the less popular with more narrow fairways and a little shorter than the West course. The power was out when I got there but the staff didn’t miss a beat and kept things going. I was even able to grab a few things from the pro shop whose manager is awesome! The course was well kept. Very challenging greens with several that make you pay for your missed putts. Looking forward to playing this course again and trying out the West.
Golf cart frustration
Nice course. It’s a little beat up. No idea why the bar was closed when our round ended. The carts shut off in some areas and it’s super annoying. It’s not even close to the green in some spots. That by far was the most annoying thing.
This is Third time playing here.
Whoever is responsible for the Pin Placements today should be spoken to. On severate holes the Pins are placed exttremely close to the edge as would be the case in a Tournament setting.
On 15 the Pin was placed three paces from the front edge on the extreme right side where there is a strong slope with a drop of 2,5 ft. in 8 feet or so.
This is Ridiculous and does not reflect a course used by the general public.
Great Value
The course is in great condition. I didn’t land in the fairway that much but they looked well maintained. The rough was pretty good, not too long. The greens were decent. This is an excellent value considering the difficulty and condition the course is in. Staff was friendly and pace of play seemed better than most. Definitely will come back to play the east course.
Good time
Overall a good course and enjoyable round. Some bunkers aren’t very sandy, and maybe one or two greens had some wear. I enjoyed my experience.
Great course
It was a fun course, played with two others who were fun and easy to golf with!
Computers down
Trying to check in was a launch to the moon . The poor workers couldn't bring the system up so we left or credit cards to be picked up after the round. I was halfway home and I realized I left my card at the check-in so back to white pines
The course was in really good shape. My only complaint is that all of the bunkers need sand, playing out of them was like playing on hard pan!
Well Done White Pines
The east course was fantastic. This was my first time playing a full 18 and it did not disappoint. Fairways and greens were kept in pristine condition, but some tee boxes needed work. Many narrow fairways in the back 9, but they weren’t too bad if you didn’t strike the ball the cleanest. Overall, very impressed. Scenic views and predictable play. Will definitely be playing here again.
