About
Situated just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, White Pines Golf Club has been a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The club offers two courses, the East and the West. The West Course is longer than the East by 400 yards and considered slightly more challenging. The layout is relatively tight and there is an abundance of trees, which means you'll need to be accurate to do well. The greens are large and challenging with difficult-to-read breaks. There is also minimal, but strategic bunkering along the greensides. The fairways provide plenty of variety with some that are narrow and heavily tree-lined and others that are wide with no trees in sight. The golf course has several challenging holes but it's forgiving enough for beginners to approach with confidence.

The pines. My savior
This is my favorite course to play for the money by far. Lots of land here. 2 huge putting greens, and when the driving range opens up again it’ll be an even better facility. Love the staff, they’re always nice and it’s not hawty twawty like many golf courses are. West>East but still 2 great courses
Great value
The course is in very good shape this year, including the greens. Good for the typical recreational golfer.
Beautiful course
The course plays well and although, most fairways have trees on both sides, it plays pretty much straightaway. There is one hole on the back nine. It might be the 12th or 13th. It is surrounded by water. It was gorgeous. It could very well be a advertisement photo for the course. It was probably the most challenging. I plan to play White Pines West again and I would strongly recommend this course to friends. The staff was friendly and the course was great condition.

Will not be going back
Played here on Sunday, May 16. Everything was closed including the driving range. The halfway house was closed, the bathrooms were closed. They had Covid paranoia. Additionally, the course is dangerous. There were balls from different fairways all over the place because of the narrowness of most holes

Friendliest staff around; great value
Great layout overall; each hole keeps you interested. The staff is super nice and make you feel like a valued guest and the grounds crew are courteous and respectful. For example, they will shutoff the lawn mower engine when you are teeing off or standing over a putt which other courses don’t do. They keep the course well maintained especially for the large amount of guests coming through each day. The greens are always in good shape but I wish they were just a little bit faster sometimes. (They’re not slow, though.)

Nice course
Played today for the 4th time this year. Pace of play was surprisingly slow; five hour round on a Thursday. Staff was fantastic as usual, very polite. I will play at least five more times this summer.
