About
Situated just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, White Pines Golf Club has been a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The club offers two courses, the East and the West. The West Course is longer than the East by 400 yards and considered slightly more challenging. The layout is relatively tight and there is an abundance of trees, which means you'll need to be accurate to do well. The greens are large and challenging with difficult-to-read breaks. There is also minimal, but strategic bunkering along the greensides. The fairways provide plenty of variety with some that are narrow and heavily tree-lined and others that are wide with no trees in sight. The golf course has several challenging holes but it's forgiving enough for beginners to approach with confidence.

Discovering an IHSA classic
Great course to play with a good variation of difficulty and challenges.
There are a lot of trees along fairways making it quite challenging if you slice or hook your drive too much.
Pace of play was a bit slow but probably linked to the 2 parties ahead of us. It took us almost 5 hours to complete the round.

Go west young man, go west
Played the west course. Under 4 hours. We had a 3- some and had a blast. Love the morning tee time. Greens need a little tlc. Wish more people would fix their ball marks.
Will be back to trusty ol’ White pines.

Great priced right course
I play here three times a week and the course is in great shape and the cost is even better.

Be on the look out
The course was in very good shape some greens were better than others but it was a good value.
I reserved my t time through Tee Off/golf now I picked it up for a great price $28 cart included. I got to the course showed the reservation at the golf shop, they told me first that I had to pay, I showed them I paid already then they said we’ll there is no way that I got it for $28 then I showed them again so then they said that the cart was not included I showed them again that the cart was included. They said it was not possible that cart was included., my reservation showed clearly that I paid with cart included. After a 10 minute discussion and I did not want to get into an argument I asked them how much was the cart it was $10 I paid it and went to play. I called Golf Now and explained what happened they gave me a promo code discount.
My point is that White spines Golf Club makes up its own rules when it comes to on line reservations so keep an eye out for that.

Greens could’ve been better
Course was in decent shape considering the COVID outbreak the greens were a bit beat up but that could be on the golfers and not course management.

Huge hornets in bunkers and greens
There were a few holes with swarms of huge hornets that had made nests all over some of the bunkers and in one of the greens. Not a great look.

Course in good shape. There was slow play but they had rangers trying to keep things moving.Typical weekend stuff. Great value. Not first time playing. Won’t be last. Good course.

White Pines West
Pretty good course; much better than the East. Ranger was very friendly and helpful with drunk group in front of us. Good value also. Would definitely recommend.
