Bad condition and pace of play
Way too over priced for the condition of the course. They over book tee times and most of the people have zero golf etiquette/course awareness. Won’t be playing here again unless it gets better.
Pace of Play is Poor
For starters, they really need to enforce pace of in the afternoon for the rates they charge. We were behind a twosome, who were letting a child take swings. Glad that they only played nine. We were moving at a good pace until we came upon some teenagers just goofing around taking multiple swings off the tee. This impacted us and the person behind us. We had to wait to tee off on every hole. Finally on 17 the starter had the gall to come up to our group and tell us to pick it up because we were holding everyone up. I politely told him that a group of teenagers ahead of us were the cause of the slow play. River Pines you really need to do better and enforce this. Don’t be afraid of upsetting certain groups.
We May Have Played Too Early In The Season
I have played River Pines many times and have enjoyed myself. However, yesterday may have been too early in the season as grass was sparse. You actually wanted to be in the rough as opposed to the fairway.
The greens were pretty rough as well.
Great Course with Range, Needs Course Management
This has been a home course for me it feels like. I love the range, putting green, and chipping area. The course is also pretty great most of the time. We have a great time here usually, but as of late it has been very frustrating.
The course starter/marshal (no matter which one it is) constantly makes you pair up with another group even if you book a separate tee time 20 minutes before. They do not take into account either where the group members are teeing off from. They do not know how to stagger tee times correctly and force people to play together. Yesterday was finally our limit. A friend and I planned to play and make it a fun and quick round. The starter though had other plans. He forced us to match up with a pair where one member was not even there yet and made us wait until they arrived 15 minutes after we were supposed to tee off. Fortunately they were a very nice and friendly couple. However, they were in their late 70's, hitting from the red tees while we were hitting from the blues, and took way too long with their shots/rate of play. It wasn't so bad on the front 9 because we had a group of 5 in front of us (again poor course management by the starter).
The back 9 though we got flagged twice by the Marshal. Which is extremely frustrating because we were already trying to play fast, but got paired with a slow couple. We finally had enough by the last two holes and stopped waiting on them to hit their shots. We had time to finish up, pack up, grab a drink, and head out before the pair even made it back to the clubhouse.
Please learn to stagger the tee times better and also stop forcing pairs that do not need to be together.
Disappointed
It's been a while since I played here and I was disappointed in the appearance of the course. Conditions we great, but the course itself reminded me of a muni track rather than the course I played years ago. Far from a Championship Course.
Great overall, greens a little rough
Overall, excellent course for the price given how much everything in Atlanta has gone up lately. Only complaint is a few greens were a little rough—putts jumping all over the place due to past aeration.
Can’t complain too much though! Fun course.
TLC is needed
The course is starting to wake up from its winter slumber. The tee boxes are in need of some rotation so they can heal. Some have very little grass. The fairways are in good condition. The greens were punched some time ago but are still like playing plinko. The mower left a number of clumps of grass and other debris. We had to clear a path for the first 5 holes until the blowers made their way to the greens.
Course was good.
The course was nice and well kept. We played on a day that followed severe storms the night before and they had just aerated the greens. The fairways were a little soupy as expected, but you could tell it would be a nice play otherwise. The cart paths were in decent shape and not super bumpy. The beverage cart was really slow, as we saw it on the first hole and that was it. Next time, I’ll plan ahead better and bring my own cooler.
Busy but good pace of play
The course was busy but pace of play was good at 4 hours for 18 holes. Down side is the greens are in poor shape and putting is nearly impossible. Good staff and good service. Once the greens heal the course will be much better.
Tee boxes 95% dirt.
A lot of root growth on the cart path- very bumpy.
Greens 9.0/10.
All fringes cut uber-short.
Need at minimum 1 ball cleaner per side.
First Time at Course
The course layout was good, with water on several holes, played just after it rained so it was cart path only. Looking forward to returning to get a second crack at the course
