About
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, Prairieview Golf Course sits on a scenic stretch of land that overlooks the Rock River. The layout will test different skills with plenty of variety, offering both open, links-style holes and tight, tree-lined holes. The design takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating the varying elevations into the large and undulating greens. The breaks can make the greens hard to read and they're made even more challenging by more than 60 bunkers strategically places along the borders. There are also water hazards in the form of ponds and a meandering stream that come into play on five holes. In addition to the course, there is also a 15-acre practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with two bunkers.

Convenient
Course in beautiful shape, club house set up perfect. Out of all the times we play here, we rarely have a wait.
Fantastic Course
Heard it was a great course to play, but because of how inexpensive it was to play 18 at a course that had a great reputation, I was concerned driving 45mins. But it was worth it. Greens rolled true, fairways like carpet and the tee boxes level and well placed!!! The Amenties were excellent, great staff and good hot dogs. I will bring out of towers there and business clients. Great place to play!! B
Nice course
Need some rain to soften it up but otherwise a great course. Only issue was a five some holding a bunch of us up pushing the round to 5 hours
A gem to play
The course is in great condition and the greens were a challenge. I probably enjoyed the course more yesterday than I ever had in the past. Nice bar to finish off the round. Go play and enjoy.
Well Worth The DDrive
Prairie View is a hidden gem. I made the drive out to Byron from the western suburbs and couldn't be happier with my decision. From the first interaction at the pro shop right up until I left the facility I experienced nothing short of first rate treatment. The tee-starter/marshal was extremely courteous and helpful about the course layout and making my way around a course I had not been on before. The course itself was spectacular! The condition of the entire course far surpassed my expectations. The greens were in great shape, especially for this late in the year. The sand traps were well maintained and had the proper amount of sand in them. All and all a golf experience that would be a value at twice the price, not that I am asking them to raise the green fees. MAKE THE DRIVE, you won't regret it.
Very Nice Course
Enjoyed our 18 holes. Course was in very good condition for this late in the season. Very scenic, nice layout. Postage stamp greens on front nine, better bring your backspin!
Would definitely make the long drive to play again.
Wonderful views of the valley
The front 9 are more level while the back rolls up on the hill and gives spectacular views of the area.
Great course and value
I went out and enjoyed another great day of golf at prairie view. The only problem was when we made the turn there was a twosome teeing off of ten. My twosome waited on every shot of the nine for these two. Not to the courses fault but some very stuck up members
Great value course
Found a great deal on an afternoon tee time and was very impressed. Challenging course, brand new gps enabled carts were a cool bonus. I will certainly be playing this course again and will recommend it to all my friends!
This course has a nice kayout
Very good value for the course. Also, little waiting times on the course.
great course
I would play this course on a weekly basis if it wasn't over one hour drive to get there. but every time I play there I enjoy playing there. you better score well on the front because the back is harder and more elevations.
A good walk rewarded
Beautiful day, outstanding course, and you can't beat the price. If this course was closer to Chicago it would be $50 or more.
Really pretty course. Great layout.
One of the best public golf courses in Northern IL.
Best course in the area, great conditions.
The course is in phenomenal shape. It is a pleasure to play and is real bargain for a premier quality golf course.
GREAT COURSE
THE COURSE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND LET ME USE A TOWEL WHEN I FORGOT MINE AT HOME.
beautiful landscape with well maintained flowers
enjoyed enough that we are playing the course again the next day with a 30 minute drive from Rockford----was truly impresses with the many improvements since the last time I played well over 10 yrs. previously
Well maintained and groomed course.
The course is in excellent condition, playing like country club with tee boxes, fairways and greens in great shape. The course is challenging.
First golf in Indy
Really enjoyed the layout. Greens were in great shape. Fairways were in great shape for the most part with exception of a few areas with too much moisture and traffic. Multiple sets of tees for every skill level. No one gets five stars though. Well maybe Augusta National would but I'll never get to do that.
