About
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, Prairieview Golf Course sits on a scenic stretch of land that overlooks the Rock River. The layout will test different skills with plenty of variety, offering both open, links-style holes and tight, tree-lined holes. The design takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating the varying elevations into the large and undulating greens. The breaks can make the greens hard to read and they're made even more challenging by more than 60 bunkers strategically places along the borders. There are also water hazards in the form of ponds and a meandering stream that come into play on five holes. In addition to the course, there is also a 15-acre practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with two bunkers.

Great course and value
I went out and enjoyed another great day of golf at prairie view. The only problem was when we made the turn there was a twosome teeing off of ten. My twosome waited on every shot of the nine for these two. Not to the courses fault but some very stuck up members
Great value course
Found a great deal on an afternoon tee time and was very impressed. Challenging course, brand new gps enabled carts were a cool bonus. I will certainly be playing this course again and will recommend it to all my friends!

great course
I would play this course on a weekly basis if it wasn't over one hour drive to get there. but every time I play there I enjoy playing there. you better score well on the front because the back is harder and more elevations.
A good walk rewarded
Beautiful day, outstanding course, and you can't beat the price. If this course was closer to Chicago it would be $50 or more.

THE COURSE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND LET ME USE A TOWEL WHEN I FORGOT MINE AT HOME.

enjoyed enough that we are playing the course again the next day with a 30 minute drive from Rockford----was truly impresses with the many improvements since the last time I played well over 10 yrs. previously
Well maintained and groomed course.
The course is in excellent condition, playing like country club with tee boxes,fairways and greens in great shape. The course is challenging.
First golf in Indy
Really enjoyed the layout. Greens were in great shape. Fairways were in great shape for the most part with exception of a few areas with too much moisture and traffic. Multiple sets of tees for every skill level. No one gets five stars though. Well maybe Augusta National would but I'll never get to do that.

Small town gem
For a new golfer this is a fair and fun course to play. Mostly wide fairways and big greens are usually surrounded by bunkers to keep you sharp. The back nine is more scenic, with many chances to see a deer or coon around the mature tree lines of the 11th and 12th holes.
Great practice area for putting/chipping and a driving range are available. The outside deck is fantastic and trumps the cozy and comfortable inside eating area.

Exceptional course
The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The views of the surrounding area is breath-taking. All except seeing the nuclear plant steam-stacks. That was a bit unnerving/creepy.

Great course for the dollar. Takes a little to get there. Overall good looking challenging course.

Best Course in 100 mile radius!!!
Prairieview is the best course under $50 a round with cart in a 100 mile radius. The bent grass fairways, large greens, and challenging hazards make this an enjoyable and rewarding course. It has some long holes, but in general you have room for error off the tee is you spray a bit with the large fairways on most holes. Par 3s are average distance from 140y to 180y. Great course!!!
