About
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, Prairieview Golf Course sits on a scenic stretch of land that overlooks the Rock River. The layout will test different skills with plenty of variety, offering both open, links-style holes and tight, tree-lined holes. The design takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating the varying elevations into the large and undulating greens. The breaks can make the greens hard to read and they're made even more challenging by more than 60 bunkers strategically places along the borders. There are also water hazards in the form of ponds and a meandering stream that come into play on five holes. In addition to the course, there is also a 15-acre practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with two bunkers.

Golfer Reviews
Great as always
Great value with no crowdy. Have fun play topgolf there while waiting unexpected thunderstorm stop.
Easter golf
Had a idea course would have fewer players cause of holiday. We were right. Still early in season for course to be in its best shape but our first time out this year too. Plus it showed... Love PrairieView golf course and we played for 33$ on a a Sunday.
my pleasure
Ya gotta love this course.. Greens were so quick and true also... Wish this course was where I'm from. Aldeen golf course in Rockford Illinois isn't even a close second....Staff very nice also
Great Staff, Great Course, SLOW play
This was my first time playing the course and it had potential to be the very best. However, extremely slow play of golfers in front of us made it unenjoyable (I took off a star and a half for this). It took us 2 hours 40 minutes to complete 9 holes. The back 9 was going even slower until we finally gave up. The computer GPS on the golf cart knew play was slow as it kept warning us, but no ranger ever came out to speed up play. This may also be a side affect of not being able to bring your cart anywhere near the greens as the cart computer stops the cart and forces you to reverse. One time I was simply going around a sand trip near the green and it stopped. I also saw this happen to many others (I took off .5 stars for this). I've never seen cart damage to greens in my 40 years of playing, but I have seen it affect play time. The staff were great, the food in the restaurant is great, the course itself is great, the views on the back 9 are great. Hope next time the speed of play improves and maybe by some act of God they can turn off the cart green protection "feature" or tighten the boundaries.
Great shape & fast greens
Course was in awesome shape and the greens were lightning fast.
Only complaint would be we had a threesome in front of us, and they were hitting multiple shots off a lot of tees. Took about 4:40 to complete the rd (which isn’t awful), but we did a lot of waiting on tee boxes & fairway approaches.
I think the warm fall weather brought out people who don’t play a lot throughout the summer months.
Great course at a fair price
A good track, that is well maintained. For me it was long drive, but the experience was worth it. Holes 6, 7, and 16 will challenge your shot-making skills.
Overall great course, Fairways and greens. Love it!
The only issue I would like to see changed is, better signs or painted pathway to indicate directions to the directions to next holes. VERY POOR directions to next holes.
A must
I have not been to this course in years for no particular reason but it’s a must to make it back asap!
Pleasantly surprised
I saw how awesome the course looked from the road and it did not disappoint. What a great way and place
to spend a day hitting a little white ball.
