Meh
Cheap but you get what you pay for. Awful greens that were aerated and not properly filled. Temp greens on a few holes that were horrendous, just dirt. Lose your ball in wide open fairways and adjacent rough because the grass is so long in so many places. Very little actual bermuda left anywhere. People nice, newer quiet electric carts. The place is greening up, but a LOT of work is needed before I will go back, even at $15.99 hot deal.
All good!!!
The dude at the front desk was not exactly the most jovial cat. People skills clearly not his strong point. However, had no bearing on the round. Had a good time. Played terribly also not out of the norm.
Overall great time perfect weather had fun. What more can you ask for? I’ll go back several times this summer I’m sure.
Needs work
This course has alot of winter issues. A lot of construction going on. Wait a few months before visiting they are working on it but not in good shape right now.
Potentially can be great again
I've played here many times and have seen the ups the downs and just outright bad moments. That being said it's still a fun course and has the potential to be a great course again.
Calhoun Golf Deal
Fair value
Fun layout with some reachable par 4s.
Discount is mostly for condition of greens.
Our group always have fun. We’re weekend warriors and are appreciative of the opportunity to enjoy the facility.
We shall return.
Worth the trip
The staff here are super friendly and the atmosphere of the operation as a whole is easy-going. If you are near by, it is definitely worth the trip. It is about an hour away from my house, I will definitely be going again. The set up of the course is a little confusing, but not so hard that you cannot figure it out. The course is by no means fancy. If you're used to playing at the country club, you will be disappointed. If you are a casual player like myself (I play 2 to 3 times a month just for fun), then you will have a great time. For $20.00 its worth every penny.
Great course for your money
People seem to in the can pay $15-$20 for a round and are going to play at Augusta National. For $15 with cart for 18 holes this track is awesome! Don’t get me wrong…the fairways are rough, and the greens are pretty scruffy, but you aren’t playing here if you’re a scratch golfer. Just enjoy being out there and stop being a baby!
Poor Management
I have played this course over several decades and it has never been in such disarray. At one time it was one of the nicer courses in the North GA area, but sadly those days are long gone. There are no fairways any longer only crabgrass which is nearly impossible to play from. The greens are terrible, as well as the overall course condition. The management has run this once nice course into the ground!
Cut the grass!
Not a bad course normally for the price but today the fairway grass was like playing in 4” rough. I quit after the 12th hole cause it wasn’t worth it, and I didn’t even have to pay today. Could be a nice course if they would just put in a little effort
Lost it's shine
I've played this course numerous times over the years, but it has been a while since I've played here. I love the layout. It's challenging, open in some areas, narrow in others. The issue is the course conditions. They've never been pristine, but they were certainly better in the past. The greens have bare spots, some weird, crab grass looking situation on them, oh, and anthills. The FAIRWAY was so overgrown that I lost two balls in the fairway. I had to worry about catching a flyer from the fairway. And, finally, the rough looked just like the fairway. Again, I loved this course years ago. I double eagled number 15. It's my favorite golf memory. Somebody, please, fix this place up.
Need To Mow Fairways
It’s run like a Mom and pop. Nothing fancy here. But a great value for the money and seldom crowded.
I lost five balls because some fairways and first cut rough were overgrown.
A fantastic place to work on your game if you are a beginner.
Greens roll true but slow.
Has great potential, but ....
I can see this course having great potential, but the fairways were really out of shape. I understand the rain probably had something to do with them not being cut properly. The bunkers had weeds in them and at times the course was hard to follow due to no signage/directions. I will say the staff was friendly and professional.
Never Again.
Let's start with the lady behind the counter, I had never been to this course so I showed up early in case there were practice areas. She was shocked I was there to check in 45 minutes early and forced me to start immediately on the back 9. Normally I wouldn't mind, when I tried to explain I didn't mind waiting she said that no one would want to play with me anyways so I need to be alone and sent me on my way. As for the course, it seemed as though the grounds keeper only worked half of his shift and picked which holes they were going to work on. Some fairways were as tall as the rough, some greens had bad weeds and patches missing. When all else fails play to the right, some fairways had netting halfway down on the left so as not to hit players on other tee boxes that were in your fairway. Be mindful of which holes you putt your ball into, drainage issues caused most holes to be filled completely with water. But the carts are nice.
