Balmoral Woods Country Club

The course is in great shape. The rough was a little thick. Lost a couple of balls. Greens were rolling good.

The difficulty of the course is evident in the elevation changes, sloping greens, and narrow fairways lined with trees. I would have enjoyed the challenge had the course been well maintained, but unfortunately it was not. Tee boxes stiff, fairways littered with crabgrass, and greenside rough hard as rock. I wanted to like this course due to its novelty but unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. With so many great courses in the south suburbs of Chicago that are better maintained, I will not be returning here ever.

I loved the layout, staff was excellent, but I was disappointed in the condition of the course. The tee boxes were nothing but crab grass. Fairways were burnout with significant amount of crabgrass and weed. With a little water and maintenance, the course would be excellent, and I would give it 5 stars. But unfortunately, in it's current condition, the course does not live up to it's ratings.

This course is horrible. It honestly ruined my Saturday and was my least enjoyable round this year and possibly ever. Buyer BEWARE.

The round took forever and we got through 8 holes in over 2.5 hours to start. The tee boxes are made of cement, you cannot place your tee in the ground, bring a hammer. The course layout is the worst part of this course. 90 degree angles on some fairways and trees in front of you on the tee box. The grass needs to be watered as it’s dying everywhere and is super hard throughout the course. There is also people everywhere and constantly in your fairway. Just an all around horrible layout of a course and at no value of a price. Stay as far away as possible from this course, it’ll ruin the game of golf for you.

The course was in excellent shape! Greens were smooth and the fairways were firm. Will definitely be back!

Buyer BEWARE for this horrendous course. This course experience ruined my Saturday and was by far my least enjoyable round this year and possibly in my life.

Played the first 8 holes in about 2.5 hours and took us 5+ hours to complete the whole round. The course was rock hard everywhere and was missing grass in a lot of places around greens. Tee boxes were in brutal shape and need a ton of attention since you can’t get a tee in the ground. Par 3 tee boxes looked like a mine field. The course layout is the worst part since you are always right on top of someone or someone is in your fairway, slowing down play for everyone (hence the 5+ hour round). Multiple holes out here have 90 degree fairway angles or a tree right in the middle of your path on the tee shot, VERY gimmicky. Zero value in playing at this “course”. My advice, NEVER play here.

Honestly one of the worst golf courses I’ve ever played in my whole life. It just has a really bad layout and most holes are extremely gimmicky. Tee boxes are hard as rock so you can barely get a tee in the ground. If i had to choose between never playing golf again or only being able to play Balmoral Woods, I would choose to never play golf again.

Whoever chose the hole/pin location must have been blind or wanted players to have a horrible time putting. Every single green had a front pin location or the location was on the edge of a slope which made this an extremely frustrating day for putting. All puts were uphill lie or downhill lie. Not fun.

3 hours to play 8 holes. They had tryouts for high school which they failed to mention. Walked off after 8 holes!!! They could of put us out on the back nine to avoid all of this. Besides that no one is the clubhouse besides the young woman who worked behind the counter had a mask on!! When I asked for a refund they told me to go through GolfNow which doesn’t have a working number. He finally gave me nine hole credit after several minutes of bantering back and forth. Needless to say I WILL NEVER PLAY THERE AGAIN!! He’s lucky I didn’t take pictures and rat them out to the state for no masks!!!!

The course is challenging, but the tee box was as hard as cement. I needed to bring a hammer to put my tee into the ground. The sand traps were dry and hard and the pace of play was 5 hours.

This is a great golf course, i travel some to get there because it is well worth it. Fairways and greens are always in great condition and the staff is very friendly. I have been playing this course for years and will continue to play it. This course is a gem that you will want to add to your golf course list
