Great natural setting.
Red Tail is a great course with a natural setting and picture perfect scenery. A bit of a drive from NW Chicago suburbs, but worth it!
Fantastic Layout,
just a joy to play. We got rained out the back nine and the pro gave us a credit...what a great layoutgreat course - diamond ! Traps
could be maintained better
Alot of standing water in most of the sand traps all this season.
That aside...nice course for the price.
Worth the drive!
RedTail is a 30 min from my home, but it's worth the drive. I usually play there as a twosome on weekdays, and I find the pace of play to be really good. It's a pretty course, even if the clubhouse is a bit meager. Staff are very friendly. My only complaint is that the greens are on the slow side. But overall very nice course and great value.
On balance it is one of the better courses we have played over the years. We played on the suggestion of some golfer friends and we were not disappoin
In the course of 18 holes no two were alike and that was a good thing. We found the course in very good condition compared to others we have played well into the season. We did find one hole that had some kind of fungus, and a couple of tee boxes that contained some grab grass. Other than that there were no conditions that hindered our play.
The course offers a variety of difficulty from some narrow fairways to several water hazards on the back 9. The greens wee not easy to read and required a firm stroke. It is a course that needs to be played several times before you can have confidence that you can play your best game regardless of the score. Red Tail is the kind of course that can be enjoyed by average and excellent golfers alike.
Fun course. Slow play
Teed off at 8:40 and finished at a bit past 1:30. No evidence that there was anyone on the course pushing people along. It is somewhat ironic that when I signed up to play it was noted as a fast play promotion.
Having said that the course was in excellent condition. It is challenging and fun to play.
Great features
Well managed and with a good challenge. Would definitely play again.
Great Value for the money
I played Redtail a week ago and paid a lot more than I paid this past weekend using Golfnow. Great Value. Very nice track for the money.
Great Value, on a hot summer day!
Usually play Redtail a few times a year. Pretty challenging course and does require some crafty play! The pace is normally not to bad but this time around took over 5 hours. Also the bunkers were hard as cement. Pretty hard to hit off solid ground! Great bang for the buck and would be a course for any kind of golfer to get a challenge!
would play this course again
we have played this course for years and it has always been a challenge and a delight to play.
nice course
Nice course, nice price. the greens ran true, not too much slope so you can score well. played about 6800 yards, reachable par 5's. overall a good experience, except for the bugs...they need to spray for them so your not swatting at them every minute.
This course is very challenging
Despite a very breezy day the course is in great shape.
Great track for the buck!
This course requires some maintenance but you get what you pay for.
The greens didn't seem like they have been rolled in awhile and the bunkers were all dried out, it was like picking a ball off gravel but you get what you pay for. A lot of great courses in the area, I just suspected they would keep up!
good course for the money
It's not a very difficult course. Green is slow, fairway is generous. You need to play from gold tee to make it a little interesting.
Course conditions were pretty bad
Course conditions were pretty bad. It wasn't their fault though, we had some decent amount of heavy rain. The course is in a low lying area. The first par 5 was turned into a par 3. The greens were very slow, understandable since they didn't mow because of the dampness. I had played other courses the same week that were in great condition, was hoping this one was as well. I would still give it another try.
Great layout w a great price
Red tail gc has everything you need for a great round of golf. Price is awesome. Layout is great. Scenery is excellent. Greens and fairways are well maintained. All staff is very friendly.
Definately a course worth the money, but with better conditioning it could be really nice.
Decent track with good practice areas. Course can stretch from 6000 to almost 7000 yards, and with not many trees, if the wind kicks up you could have a 2 or 3 club difference. Sand traps laid out nicely, but terribly conditioned. Poorest sand I've ever seen and many were still flooded with the previous days rain. Fairways and greens okay, clubhouse nothing special.
Very nice layout and fun to play.
I always enjoy playing Redtail. Has nice challanges, well kept, and beautifull sceanery.
.
I love Red tail. Chris and his staff have the course in absolutely great condition. Changing of some tee areas made for some interesting new looks at the course. This is one of the best courses in the area and always a fun test. I cant wait to get back out there and play it again!!
I've played this course 50 times over the past 15 years, and it was in the best condition ever! They need better sand in the traps.
Most enjoyable round of golf on a moderately difficult course @ 6500 yds. from the gold tees. Well maintained from the tees to the greens. They definitely need to add some sand to most of the traps and keep raking them at least twice a week!
