Great weather and people
Great day to play and a great couple to enjoy the links with. Good work. Quality.
Lots of new golfers
Its a good layout, but attracts lots of new golfers and younger golfers that arent looking for a good round of golf but an excuse to drink for 5 hours and hit a ball around or teach their kids how to play golf. These groups also dont know how to let faster groups play through and with no active ranger or tee sheet manager, there is always a quick backup of twosomes, sometimes 8 in a row, and somehow they’re all waiting for the greens to clear on Par 5s. From the tips the course layout is challenging enough, but eases off enough as well, enjoyable except for the amount of times it takes driver out of your hands. Ruins the fun of some of the holes.
Have always loved their range area for warming up and the staff is always very nice and helpful. Just need to do a better job managing groups of beginners or those not focused on the golf.
Probably not the place to come if youre serious about your golf.
Mill Creek
The course is a shell of its former self. That’s more the feel of it than the condition though. It used to feel luxury, now it just feels different. Condition was pretty good considering it was closed for a while. Tee boxes were uneven and lots of divots. Didn’t look like the tee blocks had been moved for a week or so. Fairways and greens were very good. Also a shame to see the empty restaurant/bar area.
laughing at the most recent 5 star review
With the amount of reviews submitted by successjw it's "Very interesting" he rated this course 5 stars??? I played same the day as that round......greens were recently micro aerated and absolutely were not even close to being in top notch shape. I guess this frequent reviewer enjoys courses with somewhat bumpy slow inconsistent greens. Sand traps are extremely hit and miss. 3.5 overall at best.....that's not even taking into account the COMPLETE LACK of clubhouse facilities and ridiculous beer selections most of which are light beer. I do actually like the course and its routing..... the greens need some time and a really good roll to recover. This course actually opens up from the tips.....with many completely different angles from the forward tees. If you can't get off the tee consistently and get the ball in the air you have absolutely no business playing the tips here. I recommend the course (as I have in previous reviews which you should look up and read) but I'm really tired of the lack of forthcoming honest assessment especially when a frequent reviewer 5 stars a track....that patently is not.
Playable, but Do Not Recommend
Went to this course for the first time. Will not be coming back. Really strange course in so many ways.
To start- the driving range is super weird. There is literally a water hazard on the driving range. Never seen this before. Probably why they charge so much for a bucket of balls, as they lose a lot in the pond? No yardage markers either. Another thing I've never seen missing from a driving range.
Very short course yardage. Would need to play from blacks to compare to most other course's whites.
The course layout is weird. Often times between holes if you follow the cart path, you come to forks in the road. Sometimes no signage as to which way to turn to get to the next hole. We got lost and had to backtrack several times. Had to ask an employee at the turn how to get to hole #10 because no signage after #9.
Most tee boxes in bad shape, lots of patchy areas around green. No grass seed on carts, so no one fills in their divots on the fairways.
Some fairways you had like a 30-50 yard wide landing zone. And others like 200 yards wide landing zone. Lots of hazards throughout the course. Frequently there were large patches of tall prairie grass/rough in the middle of the fairway where you could lose balls. Super frustrating to hit a great shot to the middle of a fairway and still lose balls. There was even a huge/old tree within 100 yards of a green in the middle of the fairway on one hole!
The greens were large and extremely undulating, making putting a major challenge here.
All in all, this course is certainly playable and a unique experience. However, it was very strange, challenging, and frustrating. Will not return.
Very interesting
Great course with many very interesting holes. Highly recommended. Use the proper tees. Penal from the tips.
Course was not kept in good condition, could have been watered more and dry spots around the green.
Just the rite length from the whites
Overall the Coarse was in great shape ya can't beat it for the price
Fun Course for intermediate
Went with some buddies. We are intermediate so course was perfect. Open but also some challenging holes.
Golf Visions on a Mission to kill this course
Very good design, albeit houses close by. Greens at places drying up and grass died. No attempt seen to fix any damages. Fairways seem to have some disease. Grass is dry in blotches - looks like entire fairways caught sever measles. Wrong fertilizing? If maintenance does not improve, I am not going back.
Which hole has a tree in the middle of the fairway 100 yards out? Please tells us because I've played the course multiple times and I've observed this particular tree! Please let us know. Thanks.
