Fun track
Bring some extra balls if your hitting it crooked. Enjoy pure greens and a challenging layout.
Very Playable - Good Conditions
After my fall round last year at Mill Creek (see my review below) I was worried it might deteriorate further as I could not recommend playing it. A pleasant surprise....it's in very decent shape . A bit wet (they got a lot of rain overnight on Friday) but drying out nicely. Greens were smooth and had decent speed. Traps were ponds of water of course. Tee boxes hit and miss. The course has a fabulous routing which you have to play a few times to get the hang of. Really fun green sites with lots of tiers and breaks to them. Also a very good value......pace of play wasn't an issue for us on a Saturday late afternoon. Some muddy flooded tunnels between holes but whatever this is a track I will wholeheartedly recommend. If you desire a burly challenge play the blues - they are tough. The whites although very short on the card (still a 125 slope) allow the course to be pleasant and very playable. Lots of water hazards and tight areas. The bar/food area is closed. There was on course nurse service this day (probably only on weekends), water jugs and they were grilling dogs in the proshop with some beverage coolers. Range and a fun par 3 course to boot if you want to get in some short game work. A course dog who greets you when you check in (it doesn't get better than that!). I'll reiterate a really good bang for your buck and a course not be overlooked when considering play in the Western Suburbs. 3.5/3.75 stars. $30 value.
An Interesting Course
This was a nice course the play, and the pace was pretty quick. One thing I didn't notice until I had finished playing the course was that the scorecard actually gives a suggestion of which tee box to play based on your handicap. I played from the tips since total distance was 6400 yds. and I usually play 6300 yd. courses. In any rate I still shot fairly well. This course has some challenging water hazards and prairie brush to fly over and also some narrow fairways that require precise shots. The greens were in good shape, but were challenging, as some were pretty small and others had multi-levels that if you didn't place your approach shot in the right area then you were either putting up or down a ridge. From the tips on #16 the par 3 is 214 yds. and you have to clear prairie brush and a pond. Number 18 also requires a drive over a pond to clear to hit the fairway, however there are short par 4's that birdie is possible. The only drawback was the carts seemed a bit beat up, and although they had ball and club washer aboard, the one I had didn't hold water so I couldn't clean my clubs. I had booked this on GolfNow, but the attendant at the counter asked if I was a senior and gave me the lower senior rate instead of the rate I booked on GolfNow. That was exceptionally nice of him to do that, and much appreciated. I definitely will play this course again.
No Water on entire course
We teed off at 3PM, it was over 90 degrees, pretty hot. There were 3 water jugs on the course and they all were empty. Made for a parched round.
Great Course
I was told the course was in bad shape by other golfers. NOT true! We were only 2 of 6 golfers on the course early morning between 7 and 10am. It was like having a private course. Pace of play was excellent. The greens were well manicured and the fairways were in great shape. They only have vending machines for snacks and sodas as food and drinks are no longer served (not a big deal for me as I'm there for golf). I'll be returning soon
Flooded tunnel between 16 and 17. Watch out it’s deep! And course staff will not warn you about it!
Also, where did all the yardage markers go! This place is really going downhill.
Shorten the ruff
Ruff so thick you can see where ball lands, and it is hard to find. It is a fun course.
Excell. value for the golf buck
Beautiful course on a beautiful day. Drawback that there is not enough signage on course. Easy to get lost. But still an excellent experience. Got there late but the staff was very accommodating. Round was less than 4 hours.
In dire need of some type of restoration
Played this early in the 2018 season. From my understanding the course was closed for a period of time and recently reopened.
The course conditions were pretty poor. The greens on each hole need help and the cart paths are a nightmare. This course used to be very nice at one time but is no longer in the same shape.
The driving range is a total joke. When you're hitting you dont even know what to hit or aim at and its VERY narrow. You also have to hit on the crappiest mats I've ever seen.
As for the layout of the course, a majority of the holes dont even make sense. If you're a beginner, it's not worth even trying to play this course. My foursome and I were hovering around a GPS phone app on every single tee box just to see where we even needed to aim. There is one or two true driver holes on the entire course; the rest of the holes we only used irons or hybrids from the teebox. On top of that, there is absolutely zero forgiveness on any hole. Long cattails and thick woods are all throughout the course and there are lots of risky shots you need to take with very little reward. Not to mention standing water in the bunkers. You really need to just keep advancing the ball with a low iron to eventually reach the green. You should bring an extra box of crappy balls that you dont mind losing.
The pace of play was fine as we were quite literally the only group out on the course on a saturday afternoon with good weather conditions. If this course does not get the makeover it desperately needs, I do not see it lasting much longer.
Shot makers course
Wow this is a challenging course that forces you to make smart golf decisions. You could probably only hit driver twice off the tee and feel good about your decision when the round is over. Loved it. Want to play again ASAP
Seems like they stopped caring out there
Course was in poor condition, tee boxes were terrible and the pin placements were a joke. This used to be a nice facility but it is no longer well maintained. I guess you get what you pay for.
