Fair Challenge
Mill Creek provides a fair challenge to the golfer. Shot making is at a premium, and the greens are quite challenging as well. The course, though not long at 6400 yards from the back tees, plays longer, especially in soft conditions. Add a substantial breeze as we had, and the track requires your full attention.
Great Course
My friend and I are fairly new to golf, but this is one of our favorite courses so far. Great friendliness of staff, and the course was in great shape even though it had rained for a few days prior.
Great potential
I played a round in late March, so for a Midwest course, it's still too early in the season to give a fair review of course condition. Will replay in mid-summer for a better idea on how well the playing part of the course is maintained. The course could use substantial work on its cart paths. Some areas had large potholes, and on one hole, tree roots were exposed on the unpaved path causing a rather bumpy ride. Once the course gets its proper grooming, I'd like to play the course again.
make the effort to get to this track
Listen to this track in the western suburbs of Chicago you will not regret it. The layout is extremely challenging. My only recommendation to those who run the course is that the greens need to be cut shorter and roll if you turn this into a premier putting green golf course you would be in the top 25 courses in Chicago.
But even as it sits this is a great day out on the golf course.
Recommended.
Great track
Very interesting layout, greens in good shape
Aeration done and plug holes filled in
Great course to refine your game.
First time playing this course on a Tuesday Morning for $22. Wonderful layout, beautiful, quiet and challenging course. Winds it way through upscale and beautiful homes a lot of the natural trees and bushes and water come in play. When you get bored with the wide, grip it and rip it courses and want to have to plan each shot, into the next shot, then this is the course to play. Not long, very narrow, and critical you place the ball in the right place for your next shot. Tough greens, a lot of variables to consider when you putt. Course was in great shape, played behind a twosome as a single and they played fast and never really waited on them, very considerate! Staff was very friendly and helpful. A couple holes in the early morning look right into the sun, so bring your sunglasses. I will play again!
Great value
Love this course. Has a little of everything. Challenging
Good course.
This course has some easy holes and some that aren't. It's a good test of abilities overall. I had a great time and shot a low number.
Very competitive
Each hole has its own challenging feature, for shot making. Staff is friendly, as well as the on course
beverage person. Other than crab grass growing in areas I didn't expect, tee boxes etc. I would
definitely recommend Mill Creek to others.
Don't judge course by it's driving range balls
The driving range balls were like wiffle balls and I had to hit off mats on a hot summer day so I was a little skeptical. I ended up playing with an excellent gentleman who knew the layout. He was very helpful because a lot of the holes are not right in your face. I really enjoyed the golf course. The greens were nice (a little slow) with lots of undulations. Not that long, I shot and 80 from the tips 1st time ever around with ample birdie opportunities that I didn't convert. Would like to play again.
Great Course - just needs...
This course has a fantastic and challenging layout on the front nine in particular. We played just after a horrific rain storm so course had some water problems that were no fault of their own. That aside, the tee boxes are in dire need of leveling as there was only 1 tee box I can recall that we could find a level spot.
I'd also encourage them handing out ball repair tools as there were an inordinate number of ballparks.
Because of the prior rain and likely over grown greens the morning cut on the practice green left behind messy shavings and I'd say the staff should have at least redone a rerun of that green as it left a bad first impression as well as nuisance putting through grass shavings.
Like the course and pleasant staff though!
Decent Shape
Mill Creek is a very good value during the week. Just wish folks would take care of the course. Lots of ball marks, divot strewn fairways and the greens were a tad slow but acceptable. Maintenance/upkeep has improved over the past couple of years.....but this isn't a fun course for high handicappers even though there seemed to several of them out there just hitting the ball in all different directions......on the front nine played behind a girls high school team (that shall remain nameless). Watched them not rake sand traps (or even attempt to) several times and then I also repaired several ball marks (some within 10 feet of the hole) that were fresh made that day.....the girls perhaps didn't make these but it does make me sad that our youth can't be bothered to even marginally attempt to maintain what is likely their home golf course. Folks in the clubhouse are really nice. This course keeps your interest and is a fun play a couple of times a year.
Nice Greens lots of slope
Ground crews need to work on the weed control problems. especially the Black tee boxes.
Very tricky but enjoyable
Nice and quit coarse tucked in to a beautiful subdivision. Very reasonable rates.
just ok
mill creek use to be in better shape. there was extremely amount of divots in the fairways. seems like the players aren't taking the time to fix their divots . my wife & I spent a lot of time fixing them while we played. and there were a lot of divots on the greens that players needed to fix but didn't. the cart paths need to be repaired also. I usually don't give bad reviews but the management needs to fix these problems.
Disappointing
This was my first time golfing at Millcreek. The layout is great the staff is friendly and it looks like the outside amenities are nice. I understand golfing on a holiday weekend can be challenging however 2:30 in the afternoon should have been a decent time to play when all the morning crowd should have been off the course enjoying their barbecues. Besides the five hour round there was no ranger on the course, there was no water in the ball washers, there was no drinking water, there was no water dip your towel in. The rough was virtually impossible to get out of, the greens were beat up!!!
I understand first time golfers have to learn somewhere but this is not the course to learn. For all the teaching pros, PGA pros and wanna-be pros, please incorporate some golf etiquette into your lesson. It's miserable for all the other golfers who just want to enjoy their around.
