City Club Marietta, hole 8 Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 12/06/2019
Had a hard time finding balls if not in the fairway. Grass was long. Greens were pretty rough as well. Also got rooked from the sweet cart girl. 2 12oz cans (don’t recommend) of Bloody Mary and crackers $17.75.
Same ole greens
Came to check out the “new” greens. Sad to say, they look too much like the old greens. Lots of dead spots, on most of the greens. And the dead spots seem to be in the exact same places they were before the greens were redone. Putts bounce, they don’t roll.
Glad it's back
The new greens are infinitely better than the old ones, still a couple weeks from being 100%, but tee to green City Club is a fantastic course, finally they'll have greens to live up to it.
Thank you! We will be topdressing the greens over the next few weeks which will take out the small irregularities and make them roll smoother, but they are getting better every day. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Getting there
New greens are still growing in but should be a great upgrade for the future.
Thank you for your patience with the new greens, they are getting better each day and we look forward to great days ahead. See you soon!
Much Improved
I had not played this course in over a year because of the shape the course was in. Everything is much improved now. The new greens are still a little bumpy but I imagine by next summer this place will be great again.
Thank you very much for giving us another try. The new greens are coming in nicely, they just need to mature now. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
There are no greens in any holes. All par 3 are closed
Total waste of time
Why golf now is lusting the course that have no greens .
We apologize that you were not notified by GolfNow about the temporary greens during our greens renovation project. We have had several conversations with them about the lack of information listed on the Hot Deal times and we will continue to pursue this issue with them. We look forward to seeing you again once the new greens are open.
You do not want to play this course until they get the many issues under control with the course!!
Went to the course which i played over a year ago. Boy was i sorry i took a friend to golf with me on a special on line rate! Arrived to find out they had temporary greens cut in the fairways, closed numerous hole and converted several par fives into two short holes!! I almost went back to the clubhouse to ask for a refund after the first hole! I wish i had! The fairways had been cut and large clumps of grass everywhere, as well as on the temporary greens. This was the worst taken care of course i have ever played in my life. The temporary greens were un-puttable and small, extremely small!!
The cups were increased is size that you could fit two baseballs in them!
Apparently, perhaps under poor grounds course management they lost all their greens and are starting over..was told the greens might be putt-able / playable in 3-4 weeks but i doubt it. This course won’t be back in shape for a good year or more and only if they have a good greens keeper and course manager. What a shame, it was a nice course at one time..
In occurred to me after playing that management could have made a bad situation better by keeping the overall course in good condition while playing with temporary greens; but they did not. If your thinking of playing here i would’t for at least a year till they get the course back in shape like it used to be..
A saddened golfer that won’t be back; if at all!
We are sorry you were disappointed with your visit. We have tried to communicate the fact that we are on temporary greens either over the phone or on the website. There should have been a box that you were required to check acknowledging the temporary greens when booking online, if not, let me know and we will have it corrected. We apologize about the rough clippings. We are working on a method to reduce their impact in the future. We are currently converting the greens from Bentgrass to Tif-Eagle Bermuda as it will provide a better putting surface. The new greens should be open sometime in late August. We look forward to seeing you again and providing you with a better experience.
Great course
City Club is a great course. Though I played on the temporary greens, the course was still a blast and rather empty. Has a few challenging holes and I would expect that after the renovations are done, it will look fantastic.
FireAnts and poor Greens
This place is right down the street and i go when i am really crunched on time.. the putting greens were beyond bad for such a ling time but i think they are trying to really fix them now. Fire ants are a huge problem as there are mounds EVERYWHERE!!! Fix the putting greens and Fire ant problem (the rest are minor fixes) and i will play there a lot more!!!
Dont waste your time or money.
Would not allow us to bring any water or Gatorade on the course after informing us that there was no cart girl or drink coolers on the course.
Keeping it Real!
I secured our price online. I was excited about it because City Club doesn't do many deals. The gentleman in the pro shop stated that the reason for the great price was -all 18 holes were getting new greens. There were 18 temporary ones. Distances were hard to really gauge even with the revised yardage cards. A lack of directional signs would have been a big plus. LET ME finish by saying,'The course will be fabulous when rehabbed with the new greens! I look forward to coming back at that time!"
Thank you for playing City Club. We look forward to getting you out on the new greens!
Lost potential
Fire ant hills galore! Putting greens are beyond repair. No cart girl.
Temporary Greens
They are rebuilding their greens and as a result have temporary greens until August. Very disappointing that Golf Now did not include that info while booking.
We are sorry you were not informed about the temporary greens. We have been working with GolfNow to improve the lines of communication on this matter. We look forward to seeing you again once the new greens are open.
Unfortunate experience
I would like to preface this review by saying it was at a time where they had temporary greens. Even considering these conditions, I will still extremely disappointed with the course. We paid a heavily discounted rate and still felt we overpaid. On the front 9, three of the holes were completely closed. We paid for 18 and left after 9. The highlight of my experience here was how kind the staff was in the pro shop. Unfortunately, this is not enough for me to ever give this place another shot. Beware, maybe on their best day you could get an average round of golf but you will be overpaying for it at their regular rate.
We are certainly sorry that you were disappointed. The two holes on the front that are closed are due the fact that the course has a lot of elevation changes and there is simply no area on those holes where a temporary green could be placed. The new greens will be open sometime in late August, we look forward to seeing you again and providing you with a great experience.
Under repair
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE UNTILL AUGUST. There is fake greens it is basically a par 3 course where you are putting on fairway
Greens are dead which makes putting a random exercise
The course manager said they are closing the course to redo the greens. Should be great in 8-10 weeks.
Dead is such a harsh word, we prefer to call them "really dormant" or "U.S. Open ready". We appreciate you playing City Club and we look forward to seeing you when the new greens are open.
Thank you for playing City Club!
Fast Greens
The greens were quick with brutal pin placement to help balance out the lack of length. Course was in pretty good condition except for the greens. They were patchy and bumpy with patches of sand on a few greens. Probably will not be back for a while but it was fun to give it a try
The greens are definitely challenging right now. In preparation for the conversion to TifEagle Bermuda, they have really picked some speed. We should have the new greens open sometime in August depending on the weather and we look forward to seeing you then.
Thank you for playing City Club, I am sorry you did not have the best experience. We are seeing prime growing weather for Bermuda which leads to some challenging rough. The new greens are growing in well and will just get better with time. We are sorry you did not enjoy the cocktails, check with me the next time you are here and we will make it right. I checked on the pricing and she charged the correct amount, the canned drinks are convenient, but pricey. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
