Take the Hit Now
Short but nicely laid out. they have a serious invasion of monkey grass and crab grass in some greens. The need to take the hit now and dig the stuff out before the problem is exacerbated. Instead of cutting close and hoping for the best they new to deal with it across the course now.
My son ans enjoyed the round and will definitely come back and would play on alternate greens if need be but deal with it effectively now.
Challenging Short Course
Don't let the yardage fool you. You have to drive the ball straight and control distance with your short irons to score well. If you get out of position it is hard to hot these small greens. If you need to get up and down, it is difficult to chop through the thick rough to get close. There are some scenic holes across water and elevation changes. The only drawback was that some greens on the front side have been invaded by crabgrass. Other greens were smooth but slow on a hot August day. If you are on your game, you can shoot pars and birdies. If not a golfer can easily sufer double bogies or worse.
Need Marshals!
The course is good, although the greens are a little rough. But it has been a hot, dry summer. I had no complaint with the course or staff. The pace of play was terrible! The group ahead of us was slow, and there should have been a marshal to speed them along. It took over five hours to play 18 holes, and it wasn't all that crowded.
Greens bad shape
Greens were in bad shape. It seemed as though every green had crabgrass on it. This made the putting very inconsistent . I'm not sure why this was, because the rest of course was in excellent shape.
We certainly apologize fro teh less than optimal putting conditions, it has been a rough summer for the Poa Annua grass. We are working on the greens and hope to have them back in shape soon. Thank you for playing City Club Marietta and we hope to see you back soon.

Great layout. These were once the best greens I played on. Pity that they let it deteriorate so badly

Great Course
One of my favorite courses to play. It is probably for the money one of the best courses in the Atlanta area. The staff is very nice and all carts have GPS. We play there a lot and hope to continue. Course is normally in great condition and can normally play in 4 hours.
Good layout, wreched greens.
I know they are trying to correct the greens, but it's a little disheartening to have a 4 foot putt for birdie and have what looks like a bush between you and the cup. It's a really cool layout but the greens just aren't any fun. I hope tye greens improve and I'll be back.
I have been checking the greens regularly and the Poa Annua has started to come back in the last few days, we should start to see improved conditions within the next few weeks. The goose grass is being stubborn, but we are working on it. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you back soon.
A lot of potential
I would have give this course a even better rating, but the greens are horrid. That's the only negative. I enjoyed the elevation changes and layout. I'm not a great golfer so if provide a good challenge but was fair. I would play here every week if the greens weren't in such bad shape. Actually I would play tomorrow. Fortunetly I got a great deal on GolfNow, so that made up for it, but I would not pay full price for this course at this time.

FIX THE GREENS
Course overall had good value and potential to be a really excellent course - you get to go for the green (or at least within chipping distance) on a couple of holes. You use all the clubs in your bag. You have to shape some shots. Elevation changes, some narrow fairways and some line of sight challenges. But nothing that makes it impossible - and that is what makes the potential so excellent.
The down side is that the greens were AWFUL, mud/lack of grass and weeds were more plentiful than the grass making it impossible to finish a hole with any satisfaction - and NOBODY (by the looks of it), fixes a ball mark.
The other issue was - with holes being in close proximity - I have never almost been hit by a ball so many times in my life.
I would love to see this course and play this course in better shape.
We certainly apologize for the fact that the greens are not at their best right now. The heat this summer has wiped out the poa annua in the greens despite our best efforts. We have recently aerated the greens and have begun a bentgrass reseeding program which will hopefully get them back in shape soon. We look forward to seeing you back in the future.
Marietta City Club
The course is in need of serious care. The fairways were in decent shape, but that is the only thing good about the course. The greens are not even worth bringing your putter. There is not a clear path to any flag stick I played today. The price they charge to play this course is too high, even when the greens are not is shambles. I would not play this for free, that is how poor of condition the course is in. I hope they can recover and I may give it another chance.

We have just aerified the greens and we are reseeding them with bentgrass to strengthen them for the future. We hope to have them back in great shape soon and we hope to see you again in the future.
After Work
The green need a lot of work. Most of the greens are growing grass and very bumpy. Hole two is 285 but the greens are so bad don't putt. Fairways are ok. Pace of play was bad in the evening and lots of groups in front of me. Number 18 playing longer because of the green is elevated. Good lot my fellow golfers
We are sorry about the greens, the heat has taken a toll on the poa anuua despite our best efforts but we are starting a program this week to get them back in shape. This time of year we are busiest early in the morning and late in the evening due to the high temperatures but we try to keep things moving. We appreciate your patience and hope to see you back soon.
GPS in cart
Overall good course. Greens roll decent, some are patchy (muddy/weeds). Short in length. But some tight holes keep it fair/tough. GPS in carts worked well and was very helpful. Pace wasn't great, but not awful either. Played there a couple times now, will go back.
Greens are pathetic
If the greens were in good shape, I'd play this course regularly, but they are no where near good shape. There is some kind of weed grass growing all over the greens and they have just mowed over it. Even with the GolfNow deal, it wasn't worth the money. Picking the right line for your putts meant nothing because your ball could be redirected at any moment. I had one putt jump a full foot off course because of one of these weed patches.
We definitely apologize for the greens, the heat has been hard on the poa annua this year and the goose grass has invaded in it's absence. We are aerifying greens this week and we will be adding more bentgrass seed in order to strengthen the greens to prevent future problems. We should be back in good shape soon and we hope to see you back in the future.
Not worth $50 or even $30
3 1/2 hour on sunday midmorning was great pace. I guess no one else wanted to play on crabgrass greens today..
Too bad staff has allowed bentgrass greens to become infested with overwhelming weeds on most greens. Champion bermuda wont solve their problems.

heat is taking a toll
The greens are horrible right now due to the heat. They will fix that as soon as they can. I enjoy playing the course. Some very challenging holes. Par 3's are VERY short, so that is the only thing I don't like. Due to proximity and usual conditions, I will play many more times.

Last time I played this course, it was beautiful. Yesterday, worse I have ever seen this course. Greens were so full of weeds putting was difficult. No beverage cart on a day the heat index was over 100. Shouldn't charge full price when confitions like this exist.
We apologize for the greens, the poa annua does not tolerate heat very well and some goose grass has sprouted in it's absence. We are in the process of aerifying greens and adding more bentgrass seed so we should be back in shape soon. We did not have a beverage cart that day due to the lack of prior reservations. The staff should have informed you at check-in so that you could purchase drinks before heading out. If we failed to do that, we sincerely apologize. We appreciate your patience with the greens and we hope to see you back in the future.
Greens are terrible
Been playing MCC for the past 2 years and it has been my go to due to convenience and the fact that it's a fun course. Went out Sunday and the greens are in terrible shape. They have crabgrass all over them and it seems to be getting worse. If you can get a deal it's better than going to the range but don't expect to not be upset on the greens.

Less than expected
Was really looking forward to playing here as I had heard good things about the course. It wasnt a completely bad experience and for the money($14 hot deal) not a bad deal. The greens, with exception to a few holes, were absolutely AWFUL! Having said that, I would play it again but not for full priced green fees.
We apologize for the greens, it has been a rough year with all of the heat. We are aerifying and laying down more seed this week so we should have them back in shape for the fall season. We look forward to seeing you back at City Club Marietta.
Greens need work
I've played this course several times and in the past few years the greens have gone downhill. There are only about 3 greens on the entire course that aren't fried with sand and brown spots all over. The rest of the course is in average shape, but I would not pay $50 to play here again. In its current shape, this course is worth maybe $30.

We will be aerifying and starting a reseeding program on August 4th which will hopefully have us back in great shape for the fall golf season. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
We are sorry that the greens weren't rolling as expected on the day you played. The greens have been stressed with the extremely hot weather. Part of our greens have poa annua grass in them that thrives in cooler weather. The heat has stressed the poa annua grass and that is where the brown coloration comes into affect.
