Home Course
I live 5 minutes from the course, so it's my go to, but it's also that way for ALL of Marietta (Over 100,000 people), so the pace can be slow especially on weekends.
It's a shorter course, even from the tips with only one par 4 over 400 yards (the steeply downhill #1), and one 570 yard par 5. Don't let it fool you because the platform greens on most holes emphasize accuracy as a shot only a couple feet off the green will roll up to 10 yards off.
Greens had a lot of po annua on them
Marshalls should have play speeded up. Players seem oblivious to others on the course, so don't attempt to get out of the way or let people through. If this is improved, course is enjoyable to play.
Great shape but overpriced
I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions. Greens in great shape and at least half have been reconditioned with bent grass. I still feel it is a little overpriced due to being a short course and little difficulty. This should be a $35 courses all day, not $50-60 during peak. You do have new carts with GPS so guess they're still paying for these new toys!
Great course
Go play it! Fantastic course in great shape. A little wet but it was to be expected after the downpour we have had last week.
Nice mix of easy and difficult holes
Short but sassy, nice mix of holes.
Some short easy and some difficult.
Great Course with Nice Greens. However it is narrow!
I like the course it is very challenging. The greens are in great shape and I love the Digital golf carts, very helpful.
Short, Challenging, Well maintained
Played on a Hot Deal and got more than my money's worth. The course in good shape overall. The occasional tee box was pretty tore up and there was no sand available to fill divots but the greens were smooth and the fairways had healthy grass. The pace of play was a little slow but it was a beautiful day so that didn't bother me. This did appear to be a busy course so slow play is probably the norm. The layout was good for a short course with quite a few dog-legs to keep it more challenging. On the other hand, a couple par 4's were short and straight and tight making it tempting/fun to take a risk and swing for the fences.
good value
For the value this is one of my new favorite courses. I enjoyed the layout and challenges
Course of the past. Tee boxes need more sun. The overall playability was nice.
First time playing this course and I was helped along with two limber backs that showed me the lines to take as there are a few blind shots. Overall I consider this course as a shot makers course with emphasis on target golf. The greens are smaller than standard as they where built way before the new type of greens that are standard today. A few tee boxes need sun and more sun, fairways coming along nicely( 4/17/13) this time of year. Plan on playing again mid-summer, should be nice. Be on your game with your yardage up hill and down hill +- I recommend this course if you like playing the nostalgia of yesterday( not many left in this condition). Your still away!!!!
Great Course.....Period!
Greens are true but the getting there can be quite an adventure....in a good way!
Great layout for any skill level
This was my first time playing Marietta City Club and I really enjoyed it. The course is short from the tips, so there's no deciding which set of tees to play. It's a fair and challenging layout, and I liked not having to hit driver on every par 4 and 5. I'd definitely recommend it, and I'll be playing there again.
It's hard to get a 4 or 5 out of me
First, a 3 is a good score and this was almost a 4 for overall experience - just not quite there.
I've played City Club many times and it has always been on the edge of being a really nice course for the money. Played it for the first time since last summer and it really took a step in the right direction for me. Not sure if it is under new management or what, but the course seems to be in better shape (historically, I seem to recall it holding water pn some holes even after a short rain), the staff seems to be friendlier, and overall was a good experience. Putting it in monetary terms, I believe this course is truly worth about $5-$15 less than the fees. It appeared they recently put on new irrigation around the greens, which made for some tough puts from off the green on a few holes. Once the grass grows over and so long as all else remains constant, this course will probably get a 4.
Would not recommend this course
The folks at City Club like to charge premium prices for a poorly maintained course. The tees were covered in sand most had no grass and may were bare dirt. The fairways have been neglected with eroded clay patches that have been left unmaintained for years. Our group found the course marshals about as pleasant as Walmart check out folks on a bad day. Too many good courses around to put up with this one.
Should notify clientele when greens have been punched.
The greens had just been punched, and they should have mentioned that, (as most courses do), when the round was being scheduled. We were given no discount, nor notified, and it was horrible trying to putt all day with balls bouncing left and right, (as we had to rely on luck, and not skill to make putts).
Overpriced for Condon
course punched and sanded the greens which made for a terrible round but they still charged full price. After being backed up the whole front nine we decided to get a coke and hotdog at the turn. Took three people behind the counter to process our order.Next thing the ranger who was nowhere to be found when we were backed up was a jerk telling us we were backing up three groups. I would suggest replacing the entire management team and start over, revamp the way they treat their clients, maybe people will come back.
no aerification alert
there was no alert about the greens condition when i booked this time and i walked off after three holes. very dissapointed
Short course
Fairways should start to green and then course will be very nice.
Glad I played that day
Beautiful weather and well maintained. Only two negatives were no beverage cart that day and got the message to return the cart on the 16th hole and there was still some daylight.
Average course, very crowded.
This course is close to town, which reflects the high price. I have played this course numerous times and it is always crowded. They do have great GPS on the carts. The course is short and have some quirky holes. Driver is not needed on most of the holes. Greens are in OK condition, lots of ball marks that do not get fixed. I think the course is overpriced for the type of golf. Overall this course is crowded and overpriced in my opinion, but it is close to town.
Easy course with convenient location
The CCM is an easy course with its only defense being the pin positions. It takes a while to play with all the hackers about but is fun nevertheless.
The course requires attention to detail when you play and missing on the right side is the key. I go back often cause its almost like a confidence booster for me.
The staff is friendly for the most part.
I just think that it is completely over priced for the type of golf course it is and unless you get a good rate on Golfnow it is not worth it..
They have the same rates as Cobblestone which is such a beautiful championship course! come on!!
