Bacon Park's greens were still recovering in August 2018, but they have plenty of interesting contours. This is the 15th. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 11/07/2018
Great Value
Fairways are very open. Greens start out a little rough but they get much better. They really need to repave the cart paths.
Nice municipal course. Well maintained and the use of social distancing was good. Club house was not what I expected. Looked like a thrift shop and not very professional.
Pay more to play elsewhere...
Chose this course because of the cheaper rate. Definitely got what we paid for. GPS CARTS to say the least. Drove a portion of the course in reverse to keep from getting locked out. Terrible greens and tee boxes. Staff was very friendly.
Greens
Some greens had a lot of bare spots, however I enjoyed the round and overall experience.
Not a good time to play this course
Greens are full of and surrounded by Crabgrass. Damage on greens to the point you could not even put. Had to play 15 of 18 holes just taking a 2 put and moving on. Grass around some greens not mowed and 6 inches high. New Carts are nice with digital navigation and course layout, however, very annoying to have the cart be disabled about 25 times during the round saying you can or cannot go in a specific area even between green and tee box. One time I was on the Gravel path and it made me not go that way and go around to the otherside of the Tee box to park? Ended up being a comedy club and good Driver and mid-iron practice round for the cheap price. Hope things are going in the right direction, could be a very nice course if greens were playable.
What a great course
I play pretty much every day and after a year and a half I still find this course challenging and interesting. I shoot in the 70s and low 80s from the men's tees even though I am 74 and could play from the senior tees and play once a week from the blue tees. I would recommend this course to anyone. It is beautiful and lots of birds and wildlife are found.
Wow
This place should close. Horrible conditions all around. Goat pasture is overselling it.
Greens need work
The greens need serious work. Still recovering from aeration I guess. Bunkers are solid sand/dirt
WONT PLAY HERE AGAIN
I'm new to the area and have played almost all the courses in the area. I'm all about supporting local places. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. For $44.00 per person, definitely not worth it. Greens were the worst I've ever played on. IN MY LIFE. Also this was the only course I've ever played when you get to the break, 9 holes that you don't get, go past, clubhouse. so be aware. Have what you need and want
PRO'S.....beautiful scenery
Best value
Great course! Great value. Greens need to return to normalcy after they aerated them.
Nice break from the beach
Staff was friendly, and the course was easy to navigate. Very forgiving fairways. Love the old Oak trees throughout.
Great Course!
Greens are in good shape. The greens run slow so you really have to hit the putter. The fairways are getting better too with all this rain. Overall this course is well worth the price. Driving range is good too.
Exceptional Muni
Bacon Park is probably the best shape it’s been in since I’ve played it, with my first experience occurring 25 years ago. The course has seen some layout changes but the most recent formats have had a few years of development and the fairways and greens were in good shape. Still lacking a cart path and halfway house, the Donald Ross course Design is challenging enough for experienced golfers But forgiving enough for beginners and high handicappers.
spend money on the fairways
all but one green was in great shape. fairways need lots of work. hardpan and dirt. Could be a fun course if some more work is done.
Really. Not even close.
