Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
About
Situated at the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, the Lakes Golf Course at Laura S. Walker State Park is home to an abundance of native plants and wildlife including alligators, gopher tortoises, and blue herons. True to its name, the course has three large lakes and the layout is routed through numerous varieties of oak trees and palmettos. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with heavily undulating greens, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. There is also subtle but tricky, links-style mounding defining each of the fairways and landing areas. The course strikes a nice balance of player-friendly and difficult holes but be prepared for the final holes on both the front and back nine, they are considered the toughest on the golf course.

Great course
Great layout, friendly staff, only thing needs work is the sand bunkers.... great place to play.
Good place to play with not many hazards
Great day on a good course.
Beginners will love it and more established players can work on there game. Not many hazards. The bunkers need a lot of work and the course will tell you that, when you check in
Vacation get away
Great layout staff was very friendly let us move up our time to beat the rain have been there before will return
Late Friday Round to end the week...Perfect
Greens were in great shape.
Fairways are greening up.
Rough areas are getting thick.
Sand traps need lots of work.
Waste areas really need some attention.
Pro shop is really loaded with all kinds of shirts, hats, balls & even a good selection of shoes.
9 & 18 are two fine finishing holes.
Pleasant Experience
We holiday on Saint Simons Island every year, golf almost every day and always make it a point to play a few of our rounds at LSW. The course is well laid out, generally not overly busy and not without its challenges. For this round, we were a twosome following a foursome but the pace of play was still very good ... just over 3 1/2 hours for 18. The course is in quite good shape for this time of year and the greens have improved significantly over how they were a couple of years ago. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
Great greens
Course was in great shape and the greens rolled very well. Was a bit crowded, but not to bad for early spring in South Georgia. Always have enjoyed the lay-out because the front and back nine have two different personalities. Fun course!!
Fun Parklike Setting
Course was in quite good shape, except for bunkers which are to be redone. Greens firm and fast.
Had an enjoyable round on this moderately challenging course. Matched up with 3 locals who made the afternoon most enjoyable.
Nice!
Met my son there for a round of golf while attending a family reunion. I Was impressed with the course and look forward to playing it again when I get that way.
no excuses
nice track lots of sand and no adult beverages state park to bad
A lot of bang for the buck.
This was my third time playing this course and as always it challenged my already challenged game. The layout is good and is typically well maintained. We played on a very wet and cold day due to the no rain check policy. That was the only real drawback.
Got rain out
Was having a great time but a rain storm come in and didn't get to finish.
Worth every penny
First time playing the course but will be back. Course maintenance is top notch, staff very friendly and helpful.
