Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
About
Situated at the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, the Lakes Golf Course at Laura S. Walker State Park is home to an abundance of native plants and wildlife including alligators, gopher tortoises, and blue herons. True to its name, the course has three large lakes and the layout is routed through numerous varieties of oak trees and palmettos. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with heavily undulating greens, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. There is also subtle but tricky, links-style mounding defining each of the fairways and landing areas. The course strikes a nice balance of player-friendly and difficult holes but be prepared for the final holes on both the front and back nine, they are considered the toughest on the golf course.

Golfer Reviews
My Favorite Course
I can't say enough good things about this course. It's my favorite layout in the North Florida/South Georgia region, no houses on the course, and the staff is always super friendly. I make the drive from Jax as often as I can to play, and it's worth every mile of the trip. As noted above, it's my absolute favorite course!
This course was in really good condition
The tees fairways, and greens were all well maintained. The greens were slightly slow. The rough was deep which made the course more challenging. I really like this course.
Good course with variety of holes
This course has some long holes, so short holes, some easy holes, and some difficult holes. The course was in good condition, but the greens were a little slow.
The pace of play was a little slow.
I always enjoy playing this course.
Overall condition of the was very good. The course was very wet though due to all the rain we had . The greens were rather long & slow which I am sure was intentional due to the extreme heat so they would burn up!
Always fun
The course was good, but the greens were on the slow side because they had aerated about 3 or 4 weeks ago.
In very nice shape
Considering all the rain we had, the course was in really good shape. Very soft conditions, greens were a little slow, and a couple had some rough patches, but overall real nice. Fairways and tee boxes in reall nice shape as well. 38bucks is not as great a deal as it used to be, but it is still a good deal. Ony 4 cars in the parking lot was good for pace of play as well.....
Never Disappoints
As noted in the past this is one of the best courses in the northern Florida/Southern Georgia area. And this round was no exception other than the greens were recovering from aeration and were woefully slow. Other than that the course was in tournament quality condition from tee to green. More play than usual was encountered, but still played in 2:45. Take the time to drive and play this course. You won't be disappointed.
The course is fun!
Tee time was a little off. But can’t blame the staff for that, some guys started late in front of us.
Course was fun! Great for beginners like myself.
If I could add any feedback, add fans to the carts for the summer months.
Overall great experience and worth driving over an hour too. Will return!
