Better options elsewhere
Nearly a 5 hour round. Greens were so slow it was like putting on a rug. Not what I expected for the cost.
Lack of maintenance
With the exception of a few holes, playing conditions weren't up to the standard of other courses we've played on Oahu (greens 1/5, fairways 2/5, rough 1/5, traps 1/5, tee off area 3/5). We will not return.
Better than expected
After reading many reviews, I was not expecting much when I grabbed a time at Hawaii Kai. I was coming off an injury and needed a cheap round to get back into golf mode. I ended up playing with the Head Pro and had a wonderful time. Course conditions are average at best, but tees were good and greens slow but good. It is a solid layout with a good variety of holes. If you can get a low price it's worth a round.
Better than expected
After reading a number of reviews I was a little leery of paying the freight to play Hawaii Kai, but was coming off an injury and needed to play something less expensive to see if I could even play. The young man in the Pro Shop needs to brighten up his attitude, but everyone else was fantastic. The course is a fair test of golf with a good variety of holes. I am a 5-8 handicap and found it challenging without being unfair at all.
Course Conditioning? Tees were very good, fairways not great, greens were pretty good
I'm definitely going back. Great deal for the 'Hot Deals" price.
Needs some water
Course conditions were not best. Really in need of some water. Nice layout but no really memorable holes. Fair value but expected something more lush for Hawaii.
Run down
From the beginning to the end it’s obvious there’s very little investment towards making the course enjoyable at all
Course Fairways were bare and dry. Some Bunkers were hard sand, couldn't hit under the ball. The Greens were slow with spotted patches of different grass. I played this course a couple of years ago, it was just as it was yesterday. A very ill kept course.
Enjoyed pace of play
Ok so where do I start. The staff was great and the pace of play was awesome. But, the fairways and the greens need so major work. The greens look like they have not been aerated in a long time and has other grasses growing out of it. The fairway grass is not green anymore, it a patch work of green and brown grass. But however they offer great friendly staff and on course food and beverages which is a positive. I won’t be back till the greens are fixed and the fairways are fixed.
