About
Hapuna Golf Course stretches along the beautiful Kohala coastline before rising to over 700 feet above sea level. The snow-topped Mauna Kea volcano serves as a dramatic backdrop and there are seemingly endless views of the Pacific. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay collaborated to create a visually stunning links course that utilizes the natural contours of the landscape and silky fescue grasses. The design team has received praise for not only the challenge of the design but also for how seamlessly it blends into the existing environment. Palmer incorporated several risk-reward opportunities, especially with the par 5s, the14th is a good example. There are many ways to play this hole, which features a large ravine on the right and a wide, but shallow green. Long hitters can reach the green in two but short hitters prefer two shots and a par 3.

Bring lots of balls
The course was fine - a little on the punitive side - the particular day we played the wind was howling with gust of probably 60mph which made it even more punitive!!
Everything fine except pace of play - 5 hours to play 18!!!
I never saw a marshall on the course!
Ideal choice for Mauna Kea
Have played Hapuna many times over the years and always enjoy returning. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Recent experience the same, albeit a bit slower due to it being a) a Sunday and, b) several slow-playing foursomes ahead. Will return again!

Greens are in perfect condition. Never saw the group in front of us.

Hapuna at Mauna Kea
Good practice/warm up area. Five sets of tees so good for golfers of all at different levels. Most fairways have generous landing areas but there are a few holes where you need to pick your landing spots. Played with some high handicap golfers and we played in 4 hours.
Good to be back!
Haven’t been back here since 2-3 years prior to pandemic. There were a. Couple of years when the course was in horrible condition. Now everything is pretty nice again. Greens were in good shape as was the course. Would recommend this course as it is one of my must plays on the Big Island.
Not a Prince Course, anymore
The experience this time around did not impress us. We enjoyed the course and the ocean views but when we finished our round, we were expecting our clubs to be cleaned and paced up. We weren't offered either service. Too bad because we had the tips money out, ready to give to the attendants but instead of helping us, they were busy talking about their work day.
Great Course
Overall I was very happy with the course knowing that the greens had been aerated greens.
Great Track if the price is right.
Got a hot deal price and played Hapuna. Really enjoyed the course with ocean views on most holes. Tee boxes fairways and greens all in great shape, much better than Waikoloa course. Course has a full warm up facility, driving range, chipping and separate putting green. Regular price of $185 seems abit steep to me for an inland course. Super friendly staff !! Would play again if the price is right.
