Maui Nui Golf Club
About
The classic design of Maui Nui Golf Club combines different elements including reachable holes that face each cardinal point with strong prevailing winds that reward smart play for a layout that is both fair and challenging. The layout wanders through the foothills of Haleakula, providing subtle elevation changes as well as views of the ocean and the surrounding West Maui Mountains and the volcanic atoll Molokini. The golf course has a variety of holes that will have you hitting downwind, upwind, and with both left and right crosswinds. A few lakes and ponds also come into play. Maui Nui Golf Club's layout features generous fairways and large greens. The difficulty of the course depends heavily on the speed of the prevailing winds that day. Golfers will be greatly rewarded by keeping the ball in play and good putting and chipping skills.

Course was in awful shape.
Approx. $110 in morning
About $78.00 later
The course maintenance is poor. I'm thinking they let it go during Covid, while only the locals were paying this course at a substantial discount/ lack of tourist subsidy.
As said, course conditioning sucked. There is not value here for a non-locales playing this course -- Suck it up and maybe pay the extra money at another course. You might still pay a handsome premium, but you might get some value for your money.
The key for me deciding to playing this course was their website bragging about being the home to the less than 4hr rounds, but the pace was slow. 5somes were allowed on the course without any marshaling to insure pace of play. Their talk here is cheap, and with zero follow through.
Last several golf holes were the worse. There was many areas of dirt instead of fairway grass.
The guys working the carts and grabbing the bags were hustling. The guy at the desk was nice.
I can't say for the Marshal because I never saw him.
If your thinking about spreading your money around Maui on several courses, this course may not be the best value, even thought the price is much lower than most courses.
The Five-Some in front of us
The five-some in front of us was very very slow…no Marshall around…your policy should be no five-somes!
Golf in paradise
This course is enjoyable and challenging. The staff is friendly and efficient. You should try it.
Slow Play
Each time I come to Maui, I look forward to playing this course. However, this time I was a little disappointed. The group in front of us for the first nine holes was a fivesome, and they kept us waiting on every shot. I'm not sure if the pro shop authorized all of them playing together or if they did it on their own. Some players must have left after nine because the back nine played faster. Nevertheless, the overall time for the round was nearly five hours, and that's way too long. Also, the greens were not running as smooth as I remember. Still, the layout of the course is great and I found the pro in the shop very friendly.
Back Nine is beautiful
Loved this course. A friend recommended it as it was her father's favorite course. The staff was very helpful. I rented a set of Callaway Mavrik golf clubs. My playing partners were very knowledgeable of the course and it was so much fun.
Great course except for the dirt sand traps. Well worth the visit
The staff controlling tee times and cart allocation were militant in their job, yelling at a couple in front of us. Very rude. Never seen anything like it. Staff inside the club house were great.
First time
Overall we had a great time
Had to wait some on the course
Amazing course with lots of rooms to improve
Pace of play was the worst. No ranger was present and I lost a tempo. A ranger should have been to the courses and deals with slow players. Any person start first time abs can be slow, which however, can be addressed.
No hole signs either.
Two blind courses are there without any means to notice players to tee-shot.
There were many parts without green at all.
I will come back and love to see this course improved.
One thing, I made a 60-yard chip in , for the first time.
Thanks
Maui golf
Fairways and tee boxes were in very good shape. The greens were not up to the same standard. The course was the only one I played on my Hawaiian vacation. I was disappointed that the course was void of any really spectacular views. I would play the course again for the price and value.
Local Gem
Maui Nui is a very nice course in the land of very very nice courses. When we pulled up to the bag drop a staff member met us with a cart, loaded our bags and followed us to the parking lot. Better service than I received the day before at the Plantation Course.
The course is in good shape and is a wonderful layout. There are signs of wear from being played a lot, but the value you receive is incredible in my opinion. The greens could use a good rolling but otherwise are in great shape.
I very much recommend this course. It’s a local gem!
Quite a few places in the fairway that divots not repaired.
Greens in good condition.
Slow pace
Tee off time 10:04. Started at 10:15. 5 hours later we finished. On a positive the course was in great shape and weather spectacular.
Course conditions
This course is in rough shape. Bunkers have gravel just below the sand, greens are terrible. Super slow and in bad condition. Decent layout with some tight holes.
If you can play for under $80 and given its hawaii, not a bad bargain.
install some restrooms on the course ..please!
First of all, the employees were all hard working and nice. That being said, we were backed up from the start to the finish and running very slow. No food service at the "clubhouse" .We were told that there was a beverage cart..which we found at hole 17. It looked like a maintenance cart. We had ladies in our 4 some and we could only locate one outhouse ( porta-potty ) from hole 10 through 18. It was in terrible dirty condition. For the price and offered amenities, I would have a very difficult time recommending this course to anyone in the future.

Aloha,
Thank you for the review. Thank you for the positive words about our staff. We are very sorry about the restroom situation. We do have Bathrooms on #3, #7 and at the turn. Depending on the time of the day you play, our beverage cart gets on the course at 9am.I apologize for the experience you had. Please give me a call the next time you are back on island.
