Pukalani Country Club

Pukalani is the working man's golf course on Maui. It's a good track. The slope of 117 from the white tees is a little low, I'd say, given the severe uphill slopes on half the holes (the other half are downhill). At 6300 yards plus it is a good challenge. Wide fairways but some tricky elevated greens. But all said, for $30 on Golfnow this was a fantastic deal.

What you see is what you get; a good golf course in a good condition. Nothing fancy with a trailerlike clubhouse and the starter in a big tent next to the parking lot. When we played this course, it was raining in Pukalani. We were told that once you tee off, no rain cheques are issued. And indeed, a guy came into the office saying he had only played two holes and was completely soaked: no mercy. It seems a bit harsh. We took our chances. After 4 wet holes it stopped raining and we had the entire course to our selves with a friendly marshall checking in on us every once in a while. We finished 18 holes in about 3 hours. A nice feature are the two greens you can choose from on the third; one way down alongside a canyon, one on the other side of that canyon. It was definitely worth the $55 we paid for it.

Best value, well maintained, fairways in great shape, professional staff. Though greens were being aerated, still afforded fun putting.

The pace of play wasn't bad on the front 9 where we played with a local who could let us know about break and slope of fairways but on the back the group of 5 ahead of us really slowed down so we had to wait more often then I would like. Overall this course is challenging and fun to play. Nice breeze as well.

We played at twilight rates and appreciate the friendly ranger encouraging a fast rate of play so more could complete the full 18 before it closed.

Good value with guaranteed Golfnow discount rate accepted without problem. Had to wait until 20 minutes before tee time before being allowed to check in at the club house. Plays through a residential area on a hillside so the holes are mostly either uphill or downhill. Would play again on next visit.

Enjoyed the course very much, but if you play in the wind that we did the challenge is great.

We played Pukalani on windy days, rainy days and beatiful days. The golf course is moderately challenging, well kept, some ocean views but best of all is the friendliness of the staff.

My husband and I have been to Maui several times and decided to play this course for the first time. The course is in up-country Maui, sits at the base of Haleakala at 1100 feet elevation, and has beautiful views of the mountains, the valley below, and the ocean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the pro shop is nothing to write home about. Take a "Sky Caddie" or whatever golf GPS device you use.

The course is in a beautiful setting, is moderately challenging, has a lot of elevation changes, is woman friendly. The negative is that the course itself is very non-descript; it's a long heavily played muni course that winds through a tired looking housing development. The condition of the course is ok. There are several water stations on the course but we did not see a beverage cart.

This course is not worth paying full price to play. The dollar amount we payed on Golfnow was good for Maui but it's not worth paying more than that.

Enjoyed the course. Some long par 4s. Just enough sand to make it interesting. Price is right. Great when compared to some of the pricey courses. GolfNow is the way to go.

Played here multiple times. Greens in best shape of last 3 years slower than most Maui courses. Really fun to play for mid and hi handicap. Lotta uphill/downhill, but wide fairways. 4 great par 3's. Older feel to course, not manicured, but best bang for buck on Maui. Lot of local play.

We stay at Kapaluna while on Maui for 5 weeks each year and we go out of our way, about 1 hr and fifteen minutes to play this course. It is challenging but not overwhelming, the course is not pristine but it is well maintained. Definately try it.

we've played this course a few times. quite a drive (about 50 mins from kaanapali) but worth it. good value for the money. course in good shape, maybe not resort level shape but fine for us. friendly staff. good pace of play. reasonable green fees. overall would highly recommend trying when you're on maui.

Great Saturday, played late but was done in 3 1/2 hrs. The views of the islands above are just breathtaking! No tradewinds today, made it pretty easy!

Staff is super friendly. It's a bit out of the way if stay in north or south Maui. Green we're in good condition. Fairways were dry and sometimes only sand.

Very difficult course if you are not hitting the ball straight. There is no rough, if you are off the fairway, your ball is gone. The sights, vists and views make this course worth golfing, no matter how your game is.

This golf course is for local hackers, and the condition shows it. Fairways are extremely dry and greens are about as bad. Now I understand why it was so cheap. I played this same golf course 20 years ago and there is no comparison to it's condition back then.

The greens were the best feature of this course. Very friendly to the average golfer

Great value, good golf, would definitely play the course again in the future when visiting Maui. Clubhouse not much to offer except the manager was a joy and very accommodating including the staff at the restaurant.
The course is narrow at times which makes for challenging play, and once you finish playing a hole, you can take some excellent photos from just about every hole......
